Do you play with a pick? - 80% fingerstyle, 20% pick
What kind of pick do you play with? - Dunlop Nylon 1mm
Benefits of playing with a pick? - Sharper attack, gives the fingertips a break, less annoying on those 8th-note 'pedal' songs.
And the question you didn't ask:
Benefits of playing fingerstyle? - Rounder tone, more control of dynamics, much faster passages and string crossing (in my experience).
It took me 30 years to get around to using a pick. I'm glad I finally did learn, even though I still prefer the direct connection to the strings offered by fingerstyle.
Learn both techniques (fingerstyle and pick) so you have more options to work with.
