What kind of strings do you use?

A set of S.I.T PowerSteel Conklin Signature 7 for my fifths tuned Ibanez BTB676.
I use everything except the .080 for AEBF#C#G# tuning.

And I use GHS Pressurewounds M7200 5 +PWB 28 for my fretless TWB six and my fretted G Style six.

Just put DR Legends on my Samick PJ. Where was that sound all my life while I was trying for one general purpose sound. Everything else has lo riders on. Might try some flats on a five I got with overwound soap bars.

I used to be a big fan of D'addario half rounds for a nice scooped sound with the highs a bit more under control. But now find DR does that sound better. And feel nicer under the fingers while they do it.

I've put a pair of Maruszcyck on my Jazzoon of Maruszczyck. Nickel very light (and light gauge) still good (not new)

Just put a set of Dunlop nickel rounds 45-125 on my SBMM Ray35HH. Very nice feel and tone.

Considering trying D'addario Pro Steels. Just wondering if they are hard on frets and what is tension feel? Im used to Dunlop SB feel. Trying to find a string where the E string doesn't go dead after 1 gig?

Something I did for a while when facing that same problem (a quickly-dying E string) was to match a D'Addario nickle roundwound set with a D-Addario stainless steel roundwound E string. At the very beginning, the E string was noticeably brighter, but not by a lot, and then it mellowed into a set that lasted quite a while. Give it a shot and see if it works for you.

Flats on all my basses, TI Jazz Flats or La Bella Low Tension Flats. Used to use Roto 77s but I prefer the lower tension sets these days.

D'Addario EXL170-5 5-String Nickel Wound Bass Guitar Strings on all my basses. it's the perfect sound for fingerstyle/slap and does not tear up your fingertips like steel.

I've discovered Labella Black Nylon Light Gauge 750L and I'm satisfy of such a great tone and playability.

I'm using both rounds (D'Addario custom sets for CGDA tuning on fretted and fretless Jazz Basses), "compression" wounds (Alembic on Rickenbacker) and flats (Thomastik-Infeld Jazz on a fretless 6-str.).

I've in the past been experimenting with black nylon, too, but I found their feel a bit strange. As it is a light and soft material, it exercises a dampening effect on both sustain and treble response (which I couldn't get used to). Maybe i just got the wrong brands (Ibanez, Fender). McCartney with Rotosound Tru Bass sounded very much better ^^

Strangely, on double bass I liked synthetic strings very much better than the notorious Spirocore.

Labella 760FL flats on my Stingray . I have just come to accept these are the strings for me on any bass . Love them on a Precision and have recently discovered how versatile they are on my Ray H with a pick . Their tone and feel is fantastic .

I like a variety but my #1 has flats, my #2 has flats and what I hope will become my #3 has flats.

I’ve been a huge DR fan. Over the years I did to Rotos GHS DAdarios Fenders. DRs last a long time. I really like the Hi Beams. Trying some of the others I did the Nickle LoRiders. They were full and pleasant. Just put on the stainless LoRiders last night. I’ll try those for a while. Both are nice for low action.

Maybe it's just me but I'm only really happy with Rotos. They have a "bite" to their sound. The exposed core Rotos are awesome but very fiddly to set up.

GHS Boomers 40-55-75-95-120 on my Yamaha.
GHS Pressurewounds 40-54-76-96 on my Fender P.
GHS Pressurewounds 44-62-84-106 on my Fender J, tuned to DGCF.

As of today, my Yamaha is reunited with GHS Pressurewounds 40-54-76-96 and GHS Progressive 130B after a 3-mth test run with the Boomers.

No change with the other two (P & J).

I'm not changing strings from a while....when you find right strings on your basses you forget to change.
