What kind of strings do you use?

XL ProSteels on my Lakland 5 string (EPS 170-5SL)
XL on my Ibanez 4-string (EXL 170)

I just picked up a Michael Kelly Accoustic 'bout 5 weeks ago, so I'm still looking for good Phosphor Bronze. The strings it came with are already kinda going dead. Looking into either the straigh Phosphor Bronze, or the EXP coated Phosphor bronze.

I prefer Rotosounds myself. The swing bass strings. I've gotten the clearest harmonics with them.

I just bought the "Blue steel 2674 0.45-105" strings, and thay are so great! Thay feel so smooth, and the sound is just unbelievable!
The only disadvantage of them is that they are so expensive...! ! ! But I think it's worth it...!

I use either my GHS Flatwounds or the roundwounds that came with my bass, those are the only two pairs I own. I love the flatwounds becuase of their thud, and I can play fast songs without them tearing up my fingers.

d'addiro CHROMES for me. I tried Ti Jazz Flats, but i went back to chromes, the extra light ones with the G at .40. I strictly play with chromes because they are the smoothest string I've played on. Smoothness is even more important to me than sound because sound can be tweaked with amp and processor, but smoothness can't. Some days i play for six hours. If i played six hours with regular strings or rounds my fingers would be hamburger! or at least feel like it.

For R/W's on my passive MIA Jazz bass I like Elixer Nanowebs.
I presently use TI Jazz Flats and with the S-1 switch I get a very good P bass, URB, or Jazz bass subdued growl.

but i recently got a D'addario pack XL nickel round wound, soft gauge..

anyone know if these are any good?

Alright, just put some Elixer Nanowebs on, and they are great. IMO they are much better than the Polywebs. They almost sound 'chorus-y' it's a really good overall tone. High price tag though, I sure hope they don't break like my DRs did.

This may sound crazy but for the last year I've been using these ultra cheap Martin Darco strings. They last as long as the D'addario XLs I've always used and I've been getting them for $8 a set. I usually change my strings about every 3 or 4 gigs so cost is an issue. I've never broken one and they feel/sound surprisingly good.
