German (mother tongue), English, Dutch (used to be better), Latin (don't really speak it, tis usually used for reading and translating stuff).

French.. Obviously if you look at where I live. English, obviously, like everyone here

Actually it's pretty easy. My uncle is married with a brazilian and I can understand her without problem, if she speak slowly of course
. She speaks so fast that I get lost hahaha (and that's coming from a chilean, we speak fast and in fact many Spanish speakers don't understand us)I think Spanish and Portugese are closer related than Spanish and Italian or French (I guess it's like Swedish and Norwegian)

I do business in Uruguay and they speak not only fast, but slur their words and I get lost there as well. My spanish and Portuguese are just so so, but if everyone slows down it works for me. I know in the north of Brasil I wouldn't understand a damn thing...
I am a natural anglophone. I studied French in highschool, loved it, and have taken up study again. I bought Rosetta Stone on sale, and am enjoying my studies once again.
A question for people that have learned a language using Rosetta Stone: How is your accent? If you've had a chance to be critiqued by a native speaker, what did they think?

Pfft....Dutch is easy if you speak English, just add an extra vowel to each word and change your "D"s to "T"s
And Italian is just Spanish with more hand gestures

My buddy married a Brazilian girl, so I was excited that maybe I can learn a little Portuguese. I thought I may have had a little bit of a headstart with the amount of Spanish that I know, but quickly found out that I am pretty much starting at zero with Portuguese

Only two strings away from an attitude problem.
I speak, read, and write English, sarcasm, typo, and autocorrect fluently. I can find beer, food, and a bathroom with appropriate pleasantries and please/thank you in German, Spanish (formal), Spanish (Latin American), Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, French, and Chinese.

I always say that Portuguese translates to Spanish about 65% if you count 'mispronunciation' but Spanish to Portuguese is really more like 25%.
I realize that makes no sense but it's seemed pretty true. I have learned some of both, and am an expert of none, but can definitely say if you want to learn both start with Portuguese and the Spanish will come easy but the other way around is much harder.

No one seems to speak as quickly as the Tijuana Spanish speakers. They fly through the language like they're getting paid by the word. My brain is typically limited to a few words per sentence, and it's straining when trying to process at that speed.Actually it's pretty easy. Had my college roommate's Columbian mom over for Thanksgiving one year, and after a bottle of wine paired with her peaceful word per minute delivery, I felt like practically a native speaker.

I can usually pick out words and phrases when someone's speaking Spanish but one time some Mexican band members were talking to a Cuban pianist in Spanish and I couldn't believe how fast he spoke. My friends later told me they had a hard time keeping up.
