What makes life worth living?

Looking at the question from a very cynical point of view, my answer would be that as I don't believe in an afterlife, the only reason that life is worth living is that it is better than being dead. It wouldn't be worth killing myself, because it isn't going to be any better afterwards. If I was depressed and suicidal I might want to kill myself to get away from the pain and problems of life, but as I don't believe that I'm going to around to appreciate it there is no point!

From my normal perspective, there are many things which make life worth living - the Breakfast Martini I drank last night, waking up with a beautiful woman, my Warwick, my friends and family, the buzz you get when you stand on a stage in front of 2,500 people (my biggest gig so far), the thrill you get from catching a wave, the satisfaction you get from cooking a perfect meal and the appreciation you get from the other people that eat it, knowing that my friend who got attacked on Wednesday night is OK, cocktails on a beach in Barcelona, Elgar's cello concerto, the adrenalin rush you get from throwing yourself down a downhill mountain biking course, etc, etc...

Living to see the next smile on your kids face, to surf another wave, to spend another night loving your sexy asian chick, to meet new people, to make new friends, to see new parts of the world, to share a laugh with a complete stranger, to hear music that inspires you, to drive a golf ball 300 yards straight down a fairway, and to chip another shot straight into the cup, to come face to face with an underwater creature that is much larger than you, to be thankful when you realize that it doesn't want to eat you, to eat the perfectly barbecued steak/rib/slab of mahi mahi, to drink one beer too many just because your with your good friends, to carve fresh tracks in dry Rocky Mountain powder, and to surprise yourself at what you're capable of.

Although a few details may be different for me specifically, these sentiments pretty much cover it all for me.
