What makes your band unique?

There are a couple of things to my band....and they all have to do with my being the only black member. I know, I know...but bear with me

1) We generally play the local spanish rock scene, which I didn't even know existed until I joined this band. Our songs are kind of similar in style to the other bands in our area, but the bass lines make them sound totally different. This is because of my R&B and reggae influences. I've never experienced the kind of music that most of these guys play, quite honestly

2) We have three singers, with three extremely different voices. One is kinda of a Mexican Jagger-esque, another is a straightforward ballad voiced guy, any my voice is kinda soulful

3) They all wear black, and I usually wear something colorful with a cool hat or a wig

We're not reinventing the wheel, we play funky soulful rock music, but as a band we do it well, we're the sum of our equal parts. I think our songs are good and really that's all that should matter.

The only 'band' I'm in at the moment is my solo ambient music project. I play guitar for it, and experiment with loops, drones, ostinatos etc. I've performed it a few times since I started it in early 2008, and it's going down really well with people. I really feel like I'm onto something. I don't think it'll make me rich but I hope to have a decent amount of success with it! Without wanting to sound arrogant I've not heard anything exactly like what I'm doing at the moment.

Our guitarist that doens't boast during solos is quite different. the bassist that thinks his biggest goal in life is to avoid doubling the guitar to the very last breath, our singer who can barely sing and of course our drummer who is the only one of us that can be considered "down to earth"...wait... that isn't too unique... but I think it's more in the sound than the playing, me trying to play and sound like Geddy, our guitarist trying to do opeth and our vocalist trying to do neurosis in the same time is quite a mix. ( I usually end up quite lost in the mix unless I change strings every other week.)

Our frontman is also the bassist, not the vocalist.

The bass guy's KO'd the lead guitar guy on stage?... He was ripping an improv solo, and I was just gettin in my grove when I spun around from the keyboard guy feeding me a pop-tart (Yah. We have wild onstage stuff.) He was right there, so he was KO'd...

We write dark music with an upbeat, rock n' roll edge to it, very rarely getting dark.

Our instrmentals are good. I'm not saying I'm Geddy, Flea or Jaco Pastorius, but I'm profiecent at my style of playing.
