+1. Unfortunately I'm not able to go this year. With this nifty TB iPhone app, I would have had pics up like crazy.
Well...this is a start...but really no one has updates/photos etc from day 1-1.5 of NAMM? I remember mega-threads on this in years past. Hmmf. 
The Winter NAMM 2011 Rumour Mill thread has kind of morphed into an "official" NAMM 2011 thread, but there hasn't been as much action as I've seen in the past. This year it seems like people are starting more threads about individual gear, rather than one big thread of everything. 
Makes it tough to find NAMM info... Since I don't know what gear is there, I can't look it up.

No a dinosaur , but you are right on. Top shelf players and store owners are the real attendees. The manufactures want orders not lookers. Will have to wait for bass player mag to see "the what's hot now for 2011".

Seems like a backwards concept... Think of all the forums out there filled with geeks like us (maybe I speak for myself?) that are looking forward to knowing what the latest and greatest gear sounds like. Letting us/these people in is like free advertising.
Want orders? Let the people that are using the stuff into the show so that they can sing the praises to the rest of us that can't make the show on all the awesome gear they got to check out.
I want to hear what players have to say about a product, not what some marketing douche thinks will sell the product.

Just came from Winter NAMM 2010 and this is mostly true.
Except only a small percentage are actually top shelf players.
You posted in Amps? I just got home from NAMM 2011.
The SWRs sounded very good, as did the Edens. The Edens were showcased with Washburn basses. Go figure.
Oh, and I watched Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey together. I'm not really a huge Bailey fan, but Wooten was unreal. He's that good, really.
Freddie Washington....playing backseat to some young slappy/tappy guy. Lays down a mean groove...
Stanley Clarke was cancelled. Dammit.
I'll have to admit that my ears are a little jaded from the day, the same bassline seems to eminate from every booth. It goes "clackity, clackity, doodly doo, clackity, clackity."
Played with the new Musicman Reflex (The Gamechanger). Fun to play with the various switches etc. and some very usable tones. Possibly the most versatile MM yet. The EQ section takes some getting used to, and I really like the pushbutton series/parallel and active/passive switches. Dave LaRue and Steve Morse showcased the new axes. Good sounds.
The new Fender 60th anniversary is lovely 'in the flesh.' I didn't really dig it in pictures. A beaut.
The 1962 MIA Precision in sunburst with tort is just lovely....
I've been eying Ps lately, and that's the one I'd like.
Squier? The Jaguars are very pretty, but not my thing.
I did try a P, but the unfinished neck isn't my thing at all and I was expecting a splinter any moment.
Fodera has a lovely PJ. Very traditional looking. I think it was called the NYC Empire. Sounded great (when showcased at the Seymour Duncan booth).
Wasn't blown away by amps at all.
Saw some nice Chinese made stuff. Just sayin'........
They are catching up.
Hardly anything at all bass-wise in the Gibson suite. Small scale T'bird, and a little Kramer nestled into the Steiberger section.
Oh, except that new Epiphone Zenith. Lovely.

That's the plan. I recently lived in China for 2 years. They find what sells in a particular country, buy it, disect it, study it, then copy it. Once they have it perfect they begin to look at how to make it better, cheaper, lighter. And it's not just cars and TVs - they turn out really nice guitars, basses, stomp boxes, just about anything a musician will be needing. Several marketing dudes told me their goal wasn't just to copy, but to be better. Our kids may say someday " what was a Fender?" Go into a Tom Lee store in Hong Kong and check out the Strat copies for $250US - they play good, look good, and feel good. That's coming our way.
