Anyone else notice the piece of metal running from the bridge to the rear pickup? Complete with ginormous screw someone took the time to carefully drill into the bridge. Some sort of ground I'd guess.

I think you stumbled on a great subliminal device to help sell vintage Fenders with ashtrays/covers! The eBay guitar seller from (LA?) that shoots all his guitars/basses held by scantily-clad women is a bit overkill… titilation is all about imagination - what's not shown!

It probably puts the bass right where he wants it to be when he's playing it, and that the important thing about music- function over form, right? The only "disgrace" and "shame" is the negative comments about it from people who apparently cant zip their mouths when coming across something that doesnt fit within their little world. I don't know why TB doesn't boot chronic bashers and pile-onners.

I'll say - these days there are many kick-a_ _ female bass players out there - and they're walkin' the walk! (a good analogy for bass players in general!) Just be one of them and the reason for attention will go to the next level! I guess following this logic, guy bass players (even decent ones) get no attention unless they stand out front like Macca or Sting. It's a thankless job, but we do it best and besides guitarists don't want to play bass anyway!

That is a funk clamp. You use it to keep your drummer on the one.
It's supposed to come with a strap - the other end attaches to the drummer's earring.

I guess I know what it is.. it is a strap holder for those double straps that one end is coming from the bottom strap button to the top as usual, an the other ends comes over the other shoulder and attach that hook.

It's clearly some sort of "quick attach" strap/door latch. Looks like the patent didn't work out. The real question is why would anyone discrace themselves and leave that on when they go to sell the bass, and why it the regular strap hook still there as it's clearly not needed with this prototype.

Cheeky Monkeys, it's a clip to hold your child in check, while you are performing. Simply put the child in their harness, attach the lanyard to the bass and you'll never lose your kid again... also works well at the end of the gig to hold the lead singer on stage for the load out.

I thought that just being a bassist worked as a chastity device, so by extension all basses, so this is just over-egging the pudding.
