Double Bass What other instruments do you play/want to play? (DB forum thread)

I imagine these threads have gone on for years. I've submitted my C.V. on half-a-dozen or more instrument forums, but...since I've been bassin for about 15 years, and I gig the most on bass, I guess it's one of my mains. Actually, my goal has long been to become a jazz bassist...but my experience is--whenever I get serious on one instrument, a gig opportunity comes up for another instrument and style.
I'm an old guy--started on school sax at age 8, then electric guitar and lessons at 11. Since then, I never saw a musical instrument that didn't compel me to try to learn to play. I've performed on:
bass
guitar (classical, flamenco, and various fingerstyles, slide, rags, blues..)
drums (all styles, but love jazz and latin)
percussion and congas, some tabla
fiddle (cajun, old time, Irish, scandi, rags)
banjos (tenor, plectrum, and 5-string...bluegrass, old time, Irish, ragtime, standards)
mandolins (any style)
mandola, cittern, octave mandolin, bouzouki (any style)
keyboards/synths (reggae band...fun, but skankin is boring)
hammered dulcimer (mostly fiddle tunes and O'Carolan harp tunes, xmas repertoire)
pedal and lap steel (country, blues)
diatonic button accordian and concertinas (contradance, Americana, cajun, scandi)
ukulele (singing standards)
I've recently returned to woodwinds--my first instrument and first love. I have a set of saxes, flute, bass clarinet, but spend most of my time with standard soprano clarinet--most expressive, and intuitive for me, for some reason)

I can get around a keyboard, but not play fluently; I use it for testing charts etc. Drums is mainly snare, hi-hat & ride for small jazz gigs until I can find a home where I can set the full kit up and learn & practise properly.

Not that I'm trying to turn this into a drum thread
, but what about a Pearl Rhythm Traveller kit with mesh heads? They're pretty quiet & an inexpensive practise kit. I'm considering one of those as they're also a bit smaller than a normal kit (if I can get around the extreme space limitations of my apartment, that is...)
Guitar since 1963 - studied mostly jazz but also some classical as a kid, was a classical guitar performance major in college for a while. Guitar is mostly what I teach.

Electric Bass - started in about 1975.
Piano - started in college (1971) because I had to, fell in love with it, still play and teach, even sub as a church organist for a friend, also accompany for musical theater and other things at my wife's school.
Upright Bass - since 2007 or so. I took to it like the proverbial fish to water, played in the pit for a show subbing for a friend of mine only 5 weeks after I got my first instrument.
French Horn - since about 2004, love this, too, have played in a community band and also teach a few kids.
I dabble in a few other instruments, all well enough to teach beginners - mandolin, tenor and 5-string banjo, trumpet.
Conducting - I guess that doesn't count as an instrument, but it's what my major was for master's and doctorate.

I do voice and guitars. Now that I've been on DB a couple of years and I'm starting to get to that point where maybe I don't need to be constantly practicing, I'm looking at keyboards ever so lustfully.

Besides upright and electric bass, guitar, piano, mandolin, pedal steel. ukulele, 5 string banjo, lap steel, harmonica, various rythym instruments (djembe, egg, etc) Had a Casio digital horn but it broke and they don't make them now. Xaphoon, recorder, xylophone, etc. I'm also an awful violinist

Jazz Piano. Already did 15 years of classical as a kid.
Accordion. I've tried and have one but takes an infinite amount of time to make it sound non-mechanical.

- Kala U-Bass (Ukulele Bass). Have played them in the shop and they are awesome. there is lots of demos on youtube and they are cool. sound surprisingly like an upright bass. They come in both fretted and fretless. and have a unique nylon strings. Aqulia also make ones for them too. check them out if you can. they are very portable and easy if you play double bass.
- Roland AC-33 Acoustic guitar amp. a portable busing amp with great features and an overdubbing looper
