What pedal(s) are you using for dirt?

I only own an ODB-3 currently. I do find it kinda harsh. I'm looking for something in-between OD and Fuzz I think, but leaning towards fuzz. You know how it is, I can hear it in my head:) Basically, a "chunky" fuzz as opposed to a "fizzy" fuzz. But of course, without sacrificing lows. Hard to try before you buy, so I'm perusing all these threads for ideas!

You can swap a capacitor on the ODB-3 to get rid of a lot of that fizziness. Otherwise, a W&C Tall Font Russian is probably what you're after. Pickle Pie B if you want a bit more tonal diversity. Both are more on the chunky side than the synthy/fizzy end of fuzz.

grey stache on my gig board and a pickle pie on my rehearsal board i do have a bumble coming and i believe this will replace one or the othe....i have a B:assmaster, a crunchy frog and a swollen pickle but the for mentioned are getting all the playing time.

I have a Fulltone Bassdrive and OCD on my board. The Bassdrive is typically set for a slightly overdriven sound, and the OCD for higher gain stuff. I have a Mooer FOG fuzz on the way that I'd like to incorporate because it's just different from my Fulltone pedals.

I really want to get a B3K... I've never been one to leave a pedal on all the time, but that one could change that.

B3K into a Rat Tail w 2nd distortion, Tall Font Russian, and for full killshot, IE Oxide fuzz, all pouring into my Verellen Meatsmoke Preamp with a touch of gain for some brutal gutpunching. The RT, TFR, and Oxide are on a blender, so even with all that snazz it still remains articulate and punchy

I leave my B3K 95% of the time. The only time it's off is when I need an absolutely clean, quieter bass part. Otherwise it's on. I can get clean to growl by varying my attack. So fantastic. Most of the time now my TFR is my go-to kick on distortion to thicken up guitar-heavy parts.


This is a crappy sample and shoddy playing of a new song we're working on (like my second time hearing the guitar riff). B3K and TFR are on from the beginning, and during the slowdown at the end it's just B3K

I love OCD! I think it gets a bad rap around here for low end loss. I get very little but I don't mind. It works for me and sounds like no other dirt. I've almost parted with it twice now and just can't bring myself to do it. It keeps finding it's way back on my board.

At this point I haven't found anything dirtier, or creamier than my tech 21 XXL into my SVT CL. I wish they still made them, but such is life. I'm looking to try a Grey Stache and a rusty box/darkglass stuff for preamp overdrive.

Swell B-Drive, Fuzzrocious Dark Driving, Darkglass B3K, W&C Pickle Pie B, IE Oxide.

The B-Drive is my main dirt, set for mild break-up when i dig in on one gain setting, and for more pronounced OD on the other gain setting. I use the DD with the B-Drive to get a fuller, heavier OD sound, more like a tube amp breaking up. I use the B3K for instant mid-grind and to enhance my attack. The PPB is used either to get Muff style fuzz or to drive a filter, and the Oxide is used almost exclusively to drive a filter.

Pork Loin for "always on" dirt. I have it set pretty low so I get just a little crunch in the mids and highs.
I have a B3K that I use as a "lead" channel. More volume, add some sustaining grit to my highs.
I had a Black Russian Muff that I just sold. Troy Sanders can make fuzz work in a 2 guitar metal situation, but I ain't Troy Sanders.

Really. His love for the Euphoria is reason enough for me to try to build/buy one.

...and of course I want to try a Barbershop too...
