what Squier Jazz Bass Vintage Modified do I choose

hi! if i can get this two basses at the same price.
which should i choose?
is the '77 better than de other?
im not talkinf of "taste", im tellin in
hardware and woods. thanks!

I'd go for the black with maple neck without question.
I'd change the pickguard…plenty to choose from in colors you might not imagine…but that's just me.
I do like the black knobs though and the switchplate looks good in black…if it is black...not a fan of chrome.
Actually, I'd put a blue pearl pickguard and blue pearl switchplate (or red or green, whatever) on it so that it'd look totally distinctive. I'd go for black tuners and bridge, too.
Plenty of people customize Squire basses. Why not have something different than the norm?

I agree. The VM's look nice but are still cheap basses. The CV's are more quality.

Lot of love for the VMs here from what I've read in the past few months…especially the '70s model.
I'd say it's a board favorite Squire bass…although I've been leaning toward the CV Precision after watching this.
By the way…use headphones.

Are those the exact two bass as that you are deciding between, or just pics of the models ? ...

... The reason I ask, is because these both have the Duncan Design pups and do NOT appear to have the very thick high gloss finish that the new ones have ...

IMHO, I would prefer used! older style ... The high gloss finish is one so the reasons that I have preferred th VM's over the CV 60's Jazz (I prefer the older satin finish) ... The other reason that I prefer the VM, is that it is easier to find a light one ...

I have had a few of each you have pictured, all have been sold except for one black/maple .. The main reason is satin finish, DD pups, and it weighs 7.6 lbs ... It is hard find a CV 60's Jazz much under 9 lbs., if at all ...

... If I had to pick between the two above, I wouldn't unless I had them in hand ... The way to do that, is to buy used, try them both with your gear, in your environment, with your own hands and ears, and then sell the one YOU prefer least for what you paid for it ...
