what strings do ibanez basses ship with?

I'm a relative newbie to the world of the bass and playing both the electric upright bass I made last winter and the new Ibanez TMB100M Talman I just got last month. And, yes, I did get the t-shirt! And I made a stand for my Ibanez. So I'm getting into playing my favorite sounds, taking some lessons online and reading a great deal from posters here at TalkBass.com. As I become immersed in my bass guitar, I became aware that the sound was not quite what I had thought it should or could be. I mean it was okay but I felt like something was missing.

I don't know what brand of strings Ibanez puts on this basic level instrument but people at this forum speculate that they might be D'Addarios. Okay, fair enough but when I read more on the various strings, there was enough of a difference being reported that I made a decision to replace the strings that came with the Talman. My final selection was a set of the GHS ML7200 Pressurewounds and I bought a set online. Not cheap but not exorbitant. I just put them on my Ibanez and HO BOY! What a major difference even to my newbie ears!:woot: Wow! This is GREAT! Like someone here said, "these strings make the bass sing!" Now I get a lot of range out of the pickups and my Ampeg amp. Now I want to spend as much time on my bass guitar as my fingers can take! Poor old upright! You're on a holiday for a while, old buddy!
P.S. Since I named my upright bass "Charlie Brown", I am calling my bass guitar "Wee Willie"! My wife is worried...:D

Did the ones that came on your bass have black silk at both ends? If so, those are cheap generic no-name Chinese strings Ibanez uses for some of their budget models. I think they put black silk on them on purpose so people would get the subtle hint they're supposed to be replaced with GHS Pressurewounds! ;):D

LOL! No the originals were plain silver coloured but the new GHS Pressurewounds have black silk at the headstock end!

I asked about the ones with black silk because that's what I saw in the official photos of the bass on the Ibanez website. If yours didn't have any silk, they could well have been D'Addario.

When I got my Yamaha two and a half ago, I couldn't wait to replace the factory D'A XL Nickels with the Pressurewounds. ;)

That's interesting because I was wondering about the Nickels. Your endorsement of the Pressurewounds is much appreciated!

I'm not a fan of D'A XL Nickels. For an all-purpose NPS roundwound, I prefer the GHS Bassics - at least on my active Yamaha.

That said, I do love the extra punch and crunch of the PWs, thanks to Alloy 52, and their smoother feel.

In cheap line of Ibanez mounts Ibanez that are produced in China by? They do normal 34" that I have bought as replace for the little price and Mikros that are expensive and costs like (better?) strings short scale available for Mikro....

I have a Prestige Series AFR and mount D'Addario's Nikel as the labels tell.

Is it 90's build or recent build AFR? The recent ones aren't Japan Prestige series, they are Indonesian Premium Series instead.

The Prestige series come standard with Elixir Strings whereas the Premiums used to be Elixir as well, but on more recent builds they've changed to D'Addario (easily identified by their color coded ball ends).

The only thing I know for sure is that the SRF700/705 'Portamento' comes with d'Addario Chromes. That might indicate some commercial arrangement between Ibanez and d'Addario for other instruments. YMMV.
Yeah, it is probably so.

Of all Ibanez basses that I own, 1 Chinese made ABG and 8 Indonesian electrics (including an SRF705 Portamento), only the 2014 Indonesian build BTB685SC Terra Firma that came with Elixir strings. The rests are newer builds and got D'Addario strings as standard.

Sorry Sir I mistake between Premium and Prestige, I have a recent AFR Premium that comes with D'Addario's or previous owner (but I don't think so the bass is equipollent as new one) changed before.
