What the...Darkglass Vintage Microtubes?!?!

So....................After a long wait, I finally got to try out my Vintage. All I can say is it was worth the wait. It is THE OD sound I have been searching for.

Great work Doug and Spencer.....now the gassing for the B7K begins:bassist:

I exchanged my VMT for a 7. I'm super happy. I'm thinking I want the VMT back so I can run it into the 7. I've heard great things about that combo.

I just had some time to play with the VM and compare it to my Pork Loin and PPB.

I was able to get my VM to sound very close to the PPB by turning down the drive to about 9'oclock and the era around 10'oclock or so.

I can see the VM being a more tweakable and dirtier version of the PPB.

The cool thing about the VM is that it seems to do both dirty and more clean tones quite well.
Then again, I am not at home where my real amp is, so I am using an old Ibanez practice amp right now. I will get a better feel of it on Saturday when I will try to use it live at my church service!

And compared to the Pork Loin, the VM seems to be a brighter option. My PL is generally darker in tone, although both seem to have a nice crunch.

Okay, I was able to play with the VM in a live setting.

Wow, this thing kills. I was unsure about it in my bedroom, because it was definitely brighter than my Pork Loin. But when I was playing live with a modest Drive setting on the VM, the pedal really gave me a great tone.

That Fuzz Finally!?!?!?

Man, I am thinking about a Vintage or a B7K. Not sure which way to go. I know both is the correct answer, but I can't afford that right now. The B7K is pushing it but I could swing it. I loved the B3K with my Ernie Ball basses with a 4 band EQ, I always cranked my mids, When I switched to a passive Dingwall the B3K didn't work as well for me (but the Dinger plays so much better than anything that I have used, keeper). I was using an EQ pedal with it but I needed space and decided to cut them both out.
I really miss that Darkglass OD sound.

How much does the ERA knob affect mids?

I feel like the ERA knob directly influences mids. Or maybe I'm totally wrong.

IMO, when I turn it more counter-clockwise, the meatier my mids get, and the more I turn it back clockwise, the more metallic it gets, where my ears hear something akin to a mids-scoop.

Am I crazy?

B7K all the way I had the Vintage it wasn't my thing to me the ERA and the drive are just too interactive I'm lazy I don't like working very hard for a sound I like but many other people disagree. I just got my third and final B3K and the heavens are restored this is the sound I love.
