What do you consider insane? The price? Or the instrument itself?

The instrument is legitimate, filling a need that, while niche, is nevertheless real for a certain segment of musicians.

The price seems pretty steep to me, but prices are driven by perception as much as reality.

I had a chance to buy one of these for $2,000 in 1997. I was tempted, but bought an Alembic instead. That Alembic does not go for $19K today.
