What type of bass does Andy Hess PLay?

    I don't know about the pic on that site, but I have seen him twice.. live within this past year and he was playing a 59 Precision bass thru a SVT setup...both times.

    when I saw the mule in november, andy played a p and a j--both looked vintage

    According to an article I just read in either BP or BGW, he plays a p-bass with flatwounds thru an ampeg.

    what an amazing bass player!

    on my book his sound is P bass. i have read he also uses jazz bass. and Gibson T-bird and Epi Jack casady occasionally.

    Seen him with John Scofield.
    Got a chance to talk to him, nice guy.
    He used a 1965-P-bass with flats.

    Resurrecting an old thread--I have been digging a live bootleg of Andy w/Scofield at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, CA. Andy played supportive grooves all night and then stepped forward on "Boozer" with one of the tastiest, funkiest bass solos I have EVER heard.
