What was it like playing your 1st gig?

My first bass "gig"...if it could be called that, was with a middle school percussion ensemble, me and my warm-fart-in-a-bathtub Epiphone Thunderbird sound playing in a packed gymnasium. After those 5 eons(minutes, really), I thought it was kinda cool, and I've been playing live with various groups ever since. As an aside, my grandfather bought me a brand new Fender Jazz Bass to use at finals, which I did, and consequentially fell in love with Fenders. I also met some great people, and befriended the drummer that is now my musical partner essentially, somehow we always get into the same bands. 200 watts and 15 more basses later, here I am.

Good eye. It's an EBMM StingRay 4H to be exact. I still own that bass to this day :)

Thanks. It a nice bass. An I thank my parents for teaching me how to look at a blurry photo a certain way to see it as if it was a clear picture. I'll bet that cost a pretty penny, say... $1650?

Nope. Got it for $900 new on discount at GC. That was also about 7 years ago when StingRays weren't nearly as expensive as they are now.

Oh. Interesting. It kinda seems like what happened with my first guitar. Soon after my parents bought it for me the entire line disappeared off the web. My first bass did the same thing, but it disappeared because the company that made them found out that it wasn't even worth looking at, unfortunately I spent $80 on that piece of crapp. The only good thing bout it was that it got me through my first month and a half of lessons.
