Whoa, what are the chances? I was typing mine while you posted. I sold my Thunderbass to a guitarist who was thrilled with it, but it was pretty lacking as a bass amp. I actually connected my (long gone) Hammond organ to it often and that sounded pretty good.

My first amp was some type of 60's Hohner tube amp with a 15 in it. I cant really say it was a bass amp because it had inputs labeled guitar, keyboard, and organ LOL. It sounded nice I guess. Still got it, just the speaker is blown. Back then I didnt knnow alot about amps. Im now rockin a GBE 600 with GB NEOX212.

My first amp was a Ibanez starter amp.

Then I went to a Peavey TNT115 (aka mud box)

Then I went to a GK 1001RB-II with 2 GK Neo 212s and a GK Neo 115

Then took the GK head and put it with 2 EBMM HD-210s and a EBHD410

As of tomorrow, i'll have the GK and a Markbass Little Mark 2 with a Berg HT112 on the way.

I went from small, to medium, to HUGE, to big, now to small.

I'll go big again soon. Don't worry. NV610 maybe?

My first amp was a little Crate 10 watt practice amp. I used it for a while until I decided to go big, and got an SVT-III Pro and SVT50 IsoVent cab (no, not the best combination, but I was young and stupid).

After getting back into playing more seriously after a semi-hiatus during grad school, I now have a Genz Benz NeoPak 3.5 and Avatar B210 Neo. I use an SWR WM10 as a bedroom amp.

My older brother still uses the Crate as his practice amp, though he tells me it's gotten a little flaky. He also still uses the SVT-III, though through an SWR Goliath-III Jr. instead of the IsoVent.

I think my first bass amp was related to yours... probably a step or two up size-wise. It was a Fender BXR-200.

For some reason I always hated it when I had it and assumed it was a piece of crap, but it never died on me, it lived through constant abuse, and looking back, it actually sounded pretty damn great.

ya, for a while I was recommending people on tight budgets to find a fender bxr, just because it was loud. at my church they have a bxr300. I let the "youth" group use that and I bring in my eden/bergantino rig for the main congregation.

30 years later, after going through Peaveys and Fenders,
I have settled on a SVT-CL powering
an Ampeg BXT115HLF & BXT410HLF. I ending up giving
the Thor to a guy at work who is using in a praise band
at his church (atonement for all those nights in smoky
bars?) I thought the the thing would sell for big bucks
as a collector item, but ws about as popular as a turd
from a catbox when I tried to sell it.

i started out playing a MIM Fender Jazz 5 through an Ampeg BA 115 SP combo amp. I still have those, but moved to an Ibanez SR885 through a QSC PLX 3102 PA, PB-1 pre, FX units ULXP4 wireless and Schroeder 310212L. now i'm putting together my new system.

...and now: i recently bought my EBMM SR5HH, a DB750, Bergantino NV610 and NV215 ( the 215 should be here this week) next to be purchased is another amp (thinking either TFB750 or Mesa Titan) a Lehle Dual SGoS amp switcher, X2 wireless, and a tuner (most likely a StroboRack or StroboFlip) and Vovox cables to connect everything.

An Essex! Me too, worked in NYC all summer to afford it. Played a baby blue Hagstrom through one input, and a portable record player through the other. Did you get the cover and dolly with yours as well? (Still have the cabinet for some strange reason) Now? Ampeg , Hiwatt Behringer. various cabs.

First amp was some Guerrilla thingie. I also had a Peavy guitar amp which would crank some distortion with a pull on the post IIRC, and I ran that with the bass amp to have a mini stack and get some distortion out of it. This as the 80's though... and yea... it got some great Cliff Burton type of distortion!

Mid-60's Fender Bassman (blackface) with the original 2x12 Fender cabinet. Traded it in on a solid state Ace Tone. And added cash. An Ace Tone fer chrisakes! (Later got a big Acoustic Amp)

I started with a Peavey TKO115. I currently have... the same Peavey TKO115. I'm hoping that in the next five months, I will have enough money for the amp of my dreams: the Thunderfunk TFB750A, and an Accugroove El Whappo cab.

I am not overly optimistic, however.

My first amp ever was a Sears Silvertone 150 guitar head, run into a horrid open-back no-name (or maybe Silvertone) guitar cabinet with four 8's in it. My dad got it cheap at a pawn shop but did not understand the requirements of bass guitar . I played through that part of 1973 and after blowing up the 8's, I slowly picked up other, better amp pieces through 1975.

My first really good amp was a Bassman 50 head and Bassman 2x15 cabinet which I bought for a total of $300 back in 1976. Wish I still had that head..

Currently, I have way too many amps and cabinets! I'm not sure which I'll pick for my "Now" setup, so I'll just pick the setup that I played through this afternoon, k? That would be a Genz Neo-Pak 3.5 head into a Dr.Bass BL1260 cab (with brand new APT-50 horn, yea! Thanks, Marc!)

What a difference 35 years makes..

My first bass amp was an Ibanez SW65 and I have bought several amps since.

1. Ibanez SW 65. Not enough power to gig with.
2. SWR WM15 Hated the tone.
3. Ampeg BA115HP Liked the tone and still have it.
4. Peavey Combo 115 & TVX 210 cabinet did not need anymore.
5. Current amp BBE BMAX & QSC 2450 @ Avatar B210 Delta I use it every week.

First amp: Blackface Bassman, 1967. Here it is, (back row) on top of the Fender 2x15 cab I bought with it, with a boom box sitting on the amp:

Now I have a Hartke 1400 (140W into 4 ohms) for small jobs, a Behringer BX 4500 (450W into 4 ohms), and a Fender Bassman 120 combo (100+W and a 15" speaker). I have a LOT more power on tape now!

You can see all but the Bassman 120 combo in the photo above. When it was taken, I was halfway through replacing the 15" speaker in my Peavey BX115 cab (right side).
