My first bass was a 67 hollowbody Gibson EB2, I bought it with my paper route money back in 77,
Traded up to a new Fender Jazz around 79-80.
I wish I sill had that Gibson!! and the Jazz!

Marlin with red metal flake paint.....made of chipboard........nasty instrument. Wasn't long before I bought my Yamaha RBX 550....still got it although its been repainted and had 2-3 different pick-up configs

Circa 1979 at $120 a black "Aspen" P-Bass copy. I still have the body, splatter painted and useless with a beat neck on it. It had a DiMarzio pickup, a brass Fender-style bridge, and awful elephant ear style tuners. I wish I had never modified it and still had it.

My first electric bass was a Godin Semi-Acoustic Fretless. It was a sharp looking axe...black with a white pin. Had too many problems with the LR Baggs electronics so I sold it Kind of wish I still had it.

The first bass I actually played on for any length of time was a Gibson EB0 that was owned by the high school jazz band I played in for a year (back in '76). It had 2 tones - rumble or muddy.

The first bass I actually owned is a Fender ASe Precision. I've since owned a Cirrus 5 and have a Modulus Q5 on order. But, the p-bass feels as comfortable as an old pair of sneakers. I'll probably hang on to it - regardless of what other basses I may eventually end up with.

Ibanez GSR200, now that I've gotten alot better I still don't think its a bad bass. I could've started with alot worse... like you Samick people.

'76 P Sunburst. Very serviceable bass and made it through many a gig.

It's long gone, but I'm sure somebody is enjoying it right now.

My first bass was a four-string Lotus. Man, what a pile of dung that thing was! Action about a foot off the fretboard and a tone that was worth killing for (to make it stop, that is). After about six months, it was traded for a beautiful (to me) black Peavey Dyna-Bass five string. And now, about eleven basses later, I've decided my Modulus Q6 will be with me forever.

My first bass didn't have a name on it. But it had a jazz style body and a pretty slim neck. The pickups looked like a couple of tin cans. You could talk into them and be amplified. The strings were literally about an inch off the last fret. But I only paid $40 of lunch money that I had saved for a few weeks.

And I had pretty good finger strength in no time. I tried to sell it once I got a MIM P-bass, but the shops wouldn't offer me more than $20 for it. Then our house was broken into and it was stolen. The idiots left my brand new $600 amp though (little Carvin 150 watt head and a Randall 4x10 I had also saved up for, all of which was stolen at a later date).

MIM Precision still have it, still play it, only now it's got chrome pickup and bridge covers. Go chrome!
