What was your first bass guitar?

In about 1968, JC Penney semi hollow, dual pick up somewhat of a burst yellow.

A lower end, but decent sounding Washburn bass. Came complete with a 25-watt Hartke combo amp

It was a low level black Aria Pro II P/J bass. I sold it and got an Aria Pro II IGB805 that I still have today.

Sometime around '74 my father bought me a Japanese copy of a Fender 50's P- Bass, slab body and a neck as thick as a softball bat.

In 1991, my mom brought me Sam Ash to buy this Ibanez EZ series bass

1977/8 - ordered a brand new Ibanez Ric copy. Took around 4 months to arrive. Identical to the pic below with the brown case. I sold it around '79. Circa '80 got an early 70's Ric.

Pawnshop Harmony I bought for $75 in Hollywood in 1978. It was horrible. Boomy, and basically out of control when turned up. And the tuning pegs were guitar machines and were almost impossible to use. Wish I still had it...

Univox. It had a tuning peg that was pulling up, which I fixed with a couple of #6 SHCS's through the headstock. Sold it later for more than I paid for it. I think I got $100. This was '73 in the East Bay.

A Jazz Bass copy made by Johnson. Ironically that's my father's side of the family last name. My uncle had it, and when I told my dad I wanted a bass he got it from my uncle. Very heavy, and for that reason I sold it before I ever got good. Wish I had kept it just for sentimental value. It was sold again the very next day when I tried to go get it back.
