Silvertone w/ 2 p/u's, red burst with the shortest scale i've ever seen, about a foot I think. No amp, I leaned it up against various pcs. of furniture to 'amplify' it. I'm really amazed i didn't give up!

My first one as of a week now is a nice clean second hand Geddy Lee fender model. I thought it would make a good "beginner" model without taking a chance on questionable models that need stuff replaced to sound good. As a beginner on bass, I want to be the weak link, not the equiptment. I so far really like it. It will probably be replaced or joined at some point with a MIA Jazz or Sadowsky or maybe go with an active Warwick or Tobias maybe if I can prove to myself that I really was serious about it.....
My first bass was a Yamaha RBX 250, which my uncle bought for me from some jazz artist. The funny thing is that he was choosing between getting a new for me and keeping thatone for himself, or getting a 3000 custom buildt bass and giving me that one. And it's still bugging him that he chouse the second, cause it has such great sound. It beats the **** out of any other noname fender copy. I still got it, but now I mostly play on my L-2000
My first was a cheap Jazz copy. It was called a C-series and I paid around $150.00 for it. It wasn't all that bad of a bass, it had your typical tobacco burst finish, a rosewood (I think) fretboard with white blocks. The neck was very uncharacteristic of a Jazz bass though. It was like a baseball bat, not slim at all.
I still have the body but ruined the neck with a defret job. The electronics no longer work either. I have a nice Warmouth neck lying around that I bought for another bass I have. One of these days I will get some decent pickups and new pots and then fit the neck to the body.

Mine was a squier P-bass that came with an amp and a video tape. I bought way back in 2001. It wasn't the original bass that came in the box. The original was a green colour. The guy said the green one was crap. So he went in the back, got me a blue one and said "this one is way better". He had it on hold in the back for a couple months. I never did ask him why he had it in the back. Honestly think that bass was ment to be mine because I love it. It was my main bass until I bought a G&L tribute fall of 2005.
I still use it everyday. I replaced the pick-ups with Duncan hots a few months ago. It has flats on it now. Needs a new strap and gig bag.

My first was a Standard series Squire P-Bass. It was candy apple red with a white pick guard and rosewood fretboard. It was a nice looking bass and actually felt like an instrument with a bit of quality about it, which is kinda surprising! One thing that sucked was that it had an earthing problem as soon as I got it home, but I was so keen to get playing that it took me ages to finally part with it to get it fixed. This meant every time I touched the strings my amp would pop and crackle....great sound...
Finally parted with it and got a real fender which I then sold to get my stingray. I miss it purely for the fact that it was my first bass. I have now decided im not going to sell my first guitar that I have.

My first bass was a red Peavey Fury, and this was around '96-'97. Fury's were Precision-styled basses at that time, and I thought it was pretty nifty. It was stolen from a party about a year after I bought it.... :scowl:
my first bass was a Biscayne (J bass copy) my mom bought that to me when i was 14,(i'm 30 now) I remember i really wanted a guitar but the street band needed a bass player and here i am, n i'm the only one still playing to date. i also took out the frets and tried to make it fretless like that jaco guy... LOL
squier p bass.. had it for a couple years and sold that along with my first practice amp (cant remember the name of it haha) a few months ago to this kid... which happens to be his first bass/amp... it felt good to recruit someone to the low end.
Squier Affinity Series P-bass baby! I still have it but it gives off a horrible buzz like the action needs adjusting or something.... I overpaid for it too.
first bass was a dean playmate p-j copy in red ( hair metal style , whith the pointy headstock ) a great bass got it from the folks at center city music in S.D. CA. for 150$
my first bass IS a purple Yamaha RBX-270 that i got a SCREAMIN deal on back at the beginning of the year. thanks Play It Again music!

I was told that it was a 1968, but that could have been to inspire me to buy it, since it's my birth year.
Anyhow, it was HUGE, heavy, hard to play, and sounded really cool... eventually, it suffered a 'strap malfunction' during a 'spin the bass 'round your body' poser move (never since attempted again) and ended up in enough pieces to qualify as "tinder".
I think I sobbed.
I was told that it was a 1968, but that could have been to inspire me to buy it, since it's my birth year.

An Ibanez EXB404, black. Bought it 14 years ago and still kicking myself for selling it. 
I loved the way that thing played and still miss it. Good memories with that bass. That pointy headstock helped me get out of a bar with my skin still intact one night as it made a handy weapon.
