A 70's Fender Jazz copy....flatwounds.....refinished poorly....paid $50 for it, in two payments......of course I was 13.....

My first bass was a plywood bodied jazz copy that was so bad they wouldn't even put a name on it. Very quickly I replaced it with my first real bass, a refinished '61 stacknob jazz which I then had professionally refinished and have kept to this day(This was 1983, so don't get too upset when you find out I only paid $450 and the crappy copy trade for it). Recently I have been playing primarily modified squier p-basses since I enjoy hot-rodding them, can easily afford them, and never have to worry about them when I play out.

My first was a Cort with the short neck on it. As I was only in fourth grade when I started playing. I then traded that and got a Vester. I still have the Vester but I also got a Cort active 5, a 1977 Ric 4001, a 1998 Warwick Thumb 6 neck through, and an Ibenez acoustic 5 string.

My first bass was an Eros. Copy of a Gibson EB-whatever. Natural, short scale, 2 pickups.
Sadly I dismantled it in a futile effort to see what makes it 'tick'. Later, after reassembly, I attempted to strip the varnish off, the idea being to repaint the thing in psychedelic hues an the style of 'The Fool', in an ill-advised art school project. It's now known as the excema bass.

I now play my venerable old friend, my '79 Fender Precision. She's seen off all competition, including a Geddy Lee Jazz and an '81 Rickenbacker 4001.

-That same single coil P I tore apart and rebuilt

Rogue LX200B, took me about 3 months of washing cars, and mowing lawns to afford it. And it was only like $130. I sure wish i knew about SX back then, the thing was a piece of shiznit!

First was a Charvel 4 string MIA. Now my main bass was a EBMMSR5 but that isn't getting much play time anymore since I got a 'wick $$.

90s Fender Mexican Precision. It was terrible! I used it as a solid modding platform for a few years before parting it out and selling it. I learned a number of things from that bass though. 1) You can't get blood from a stone. If your bass sounds bad, all the mods in the world won't help it. 2) I do not like the Precision neck profile. 3) Fender Mexico uses some lousy wood.

At least they did then.

Anywho, my first was an Ibanez Silver Cadet. Now I play a Washburn T-24 (love it) and just got a Micheal Kelly Dragonfly 5-string fretless (loving it so far).
