What was your first bass guitar?

I learned on my dad old's Westone P bass, which he sold to one of my bass playing buddies. I got me first bass 6 months later. A Ibanez GRS 210. I put a badass bridge on it a year later and now planning on upgrading the pick ups. Either EMG or Dimazio

my first bass was a white peavey fury with a maple fretboard and black pickguard. i traded it in on a transparent red ibanez sr505. i don't have either bass anymore, but i would love to run across another fury like my first bass. i'd buy it in a heartbeat!

My first bass was an Arctic White '99 MIM Jazz. I learned on my dad's '78 P (once he learned that I was playing on his bass, he figured it'd be best to buy me a bass to keep his precious safe:D). I still have that bass, and it still is my main axe.

The neat thing is that it came from the factory as a Frankenbass. The neck and electronics came from the American Standard, and the body and bridge was from the MIM standard (the routing on the body was for the traditional Jazz pickup size, so if I ever decide to change pickups I won't need to do any routing :D).

The other neat thing about my bass is that the neck has a really nice maple flame on the back and headstock. It's a sweet bass...

i brought this thing used for a hundred back in 1996...after about 7 months i really wanted to try a 5 string bass.....so i traded it in for a soundgear at the music store my dad worked at.....it turned out to be some limited edition bass and they sold it that day for over a grand!!!:crying:

me and my dad were pissed and he quit because they didnt tell us what we had......he's a drummer,so he didnt have a clue....lol.

I would think that this has been done before here, but I couldn't find it... so I thought I'd throw it out there...

I'll start, since I brought it up. My very first bass was a used Gibson EB1 that my parents bought me in 1976 for - get this - $125. Yup, a 2nd generation Gibson EB1 - I had no idea how cool that bass was. Here's the only pic of one I could find offhand...

It was a very cool bass that I ruined with buckle rash - I traded it to a store for a crappy Gibson "Firebrand " SG. I was not a smart kid.

My amp, bought from the same guy, was a "Kustom Casino 4x10" that I *think* was intended to be a keyboard amp - it sounded like a mud-fart... but I was ahead of my time, playing 4x10...!

My very first bass was a Hofner Club bass that some rich kid had broken when he had a tantrum after he couldn't play something on it. My buddy grabbed the pieces, put it back together and sold it to me for $40 bucks. The action was hellacious bad, but it sounded good and you only have one first one....My next bass was a 1969 P-Bass that I paid $125 for in 1970 that was....(heck STILL) one of the best sounding basses I've ever owned. Wish I still had THAT one. )-(

Yes, I've already answered this question on TB, but here we go again. My first bass was a '74' Japanese copy of a Fender Jazz Bass, it had black nylon strings and believe it or not, it sounded pretty damn good. I remember having my buddy, whose an artist, paint it some airbrush green, grey and white colors; looked really good. Originally, it was white w/rosewood fretboard. I wish I still had the body.:smug:

My first bass was a borrowed Silvertone Danelectro. Probably a '63. I used it every second for several weeks before my friend's big brother noticed it was gone and asked me to bring it back. My folks drove me over on a sunny Sunday morning on the way to church to return it. I was 13. I could have cried.

Here is the '65 I just bought two days ago--looks just like it.
Yeah. Boomer madness strikes once every 12 seconds, but a little bass just like this one totally changed my life.
