Mine was assembled by some guy in the town I lived in. He sold it to me for 500 Bfr back in '84 that was about 12,50 Euros now... It was ugly, had some sort of lipstick pup and strings were miles away from the neck. I gigged it for 2 years and then sold it and bought a Westone for about 125 Euros, which I still use.
Fender GB-41 SCE acoustic bass guitar. It was purchased new in 2004, but I never ran the serial number to check the build year. This bass was traded in 2 years later towards a Fender MIA P-bass.
If one is old enough their 1st bass just might be something they bought for 100.00 and if still around might sell for several thousand. I bought a well worn Fender P (or Tele ?) that was worn off blond or yellowed white and sanded it and spray can painted it hot rod purple. (I think I was 12 and "The Ventures" were our heroes). Sold it for a clean 60's sunburst J. I still keep looking for that purple P in a "What idiot would do this" kinda thread here

A Torch P-Bass copy...circa 1980s I think. Red with matching headstock, white pickguard, white pups, and a laminated maple neck and fingerboard. Haven't seen anything like it since. It was a bit like an SX, but only sturdier and, well, just nicer.
It was beastly, and I never should have sold it to buy a cheap, black, Ashton 5 string...

I played it through a 10 watt guitar amp that was barely louder than the bass played acoustically. That amp died last year.. RIP little guy.

First Bass: 2001 Squier Bronco Maple n' Red- I got lucky with it (in terms of QC) and I still play it today.

A Magnum Jazz Bass copy for $135, in 1982, from Hewitt's Music located in Dearborn, Michigan.
I will never forget the day when my mother took me to the music store to purchase my first bass.
My mother and I were actually planning to purchase a bass from another music store, Wonderland Music. However, the music store had not opened yet. I recalled seeing Hewitt's Music on the way. Therefore, my mother drove me there, purchased the said bass, and the rest is history.
I believe the bass is either in my parents garage or at their storage facility.
Prior to owning the Magnum Jazz Bass copy, I used a bass owned by one of the older deacons at my family's church for two years. It was a horrible bass, but I was thankful to have something to jam on at the time.
