What Was Your First Musical Instrument?

Clarinet. Not enough bass, so I quickly moved to trombone and baritone horn. 
I'm jealous of those of you who started on piano. I took it up about a dozen years ago in my early forties. I love it, but I wish I had started younger.
Violin.
Actually learned Hot Crossed Buns on recorder the same year. I had played violin about 7 years before bass.

Accordion!!! It wasn't all that unusual around Cincinnati back in the day.
Same here. I got a budget MIJ Cimar J copy in 1978. I have dabbled with guitar and drums but bass has always been my true love.
I tried classical guitar for a couple of years but never got much of anywhere with it. It's a very challenging instrument.
My Grandfather played Geetar (both kinds, Country AND Western) and had all kinds of musical instruments. I recall from my youngest memories playing with a mouth harp, harmonica, recorder, and the Hammond B3 with Leslie speaker in their living room. When I was real young (6 or 7), he had me come to a gig and flip pages for him and the bassist... I sat in front of a 2x15" cab with a Fender tube head sitting on it (Bassman or Showman I assume) and couldn't catch my breath the whole show... from that evening on, I was a bassist (even though it took a few years before I started playing). I had a year of recorder in grade school, then a couple years on sax before getting my first bass.
Bass, was/is my first and only instrument.
My dad can play anything with strings in it or on it. My brother is pretty much the same and has a guitar farm in his home studio. You can set sheet music in front of either of my sisters at a piano and they can play it like they’ve been doing it all their lives. My baby sister has several electronic keyboards, 2 electric pianos, a guitar, and a house full of assorted rhythm instruments. I’m the least accomplished musical member of my family.

What was once known as a tonette. Kind of a cross between a recorder and fife, and in mass with 30 1st graders playing them at the same time was painful. I seemed to be the only one in my class that could play Hot Cross Buns correctly.
