What was your first pedal?

Gonna date myself here: A brand-new Fuzzface, got it in my early teens. This would have been '68 or '69...

It sounded like crap with my semi-hollow Hagstrom bass, but it was awesome when we stopped for a break- if I tweaked it just right, we could pick up CHUM-AM.

What could be better than sitting on the couch, listening to top-40 radio through a '59 Bassman?

Black Russian Muff
A friend that was quiting bass gave it to me when I started playing. They said it was the best distortion pedal for bass. I hated it, and I still hate muffs to this day.

The first pedal I bought for myself:
Boss GEB7, to fix the sound of my crappy first amp pulled from the dust of my uncle's basement. It was a 'Heath' guitar amp with 2x10s (you ever heard of them before? no, nor have I. Thought they made chocolate bars, who knew).

Gave both of those pedals away when I moved. Then bought myself a clean sounding Carvin amp and was happy with a bass-into-amp setup for so long. Until the day came that I started craving a dirtier, high-gain, rock-n-roll sound. So I bought a HAO RustRide from eBay back in 2007.

Then I got involved in a band with two guitarist and the singer all using multi-fx boards. And I decided to go analog instead... now I spend most my time here in the Effects Asylum.
