What was your "missing puzzle piece" pedal to finalize your FX-board?

Maybe you also have gone through this situation:

you own lots of pedals, your FX-chain feels somehow incomplete because there is ONE missing piece (pedal) to finalize your FX-board to get your perfect bass sound.
What was your missing puzzle piece that suddenly solved all your "problems"?

For me it was the Xotic X-Blender some years ago, with clean-blending i never lost low end again and depending on my settings and pedals in the FX-loop it sounded like 2 instruments at the same time. Kind of most important pedal on my board.

For me, it's never done. I can usually go for a few months at a time but then start wondering....what else could I add that could take me in another exciting direction....do I have overlap...and if so, what? So maybe I can get something different....I want to try a new dirt flavor......oh wow this preamp setting that I've never tried before rules and now I need to try something else into it!.....

So for me there was never really just ONE piece of the puzzle missing. It's been a long time since I was like, I need this to complete my dirt section or I need this to complete my modulation section. I'm at the point now where I pretty much have everything I need, I just want to try new things as time goes by. Right now, I was able to get a few things like a Moog Freqbox and exp, a SubD clone as well as a 250 clone and the Russian Pickle. Shaking it up to where it'll really change some things. A revamp will happen later this week so that's exciting for me! :) But yeah, not so much missing pieces. More trying new things.

I'm afraid i'll never find that last piece...
What ties my board together right now is the seymour duncan studio bass first, then tonehammer last. Then a mesa flux for added drive and cut, that's my main sound.
When flipping basses i flip the toggle on the comp to tame brighter basses or bring some mids back on darker ones.
Everything else on my board is just ad ons for fun i guess, but much needed fun lol
Right now i think an H9 will bring it all together...

LS-2 for all them fuzz pedals and finding a used DOD Bass Grunge recently, adds the perfect amount of everything.

Also the Flashback x4 is the perfect delay pedal, however I use the looper less and less so I'm debating buying a compact version....

Also adding a ring mod for weird stuff, I go back and forth between a Gonkulator and a Moog Minifooger.

Are you sending all your fuzzes through the LS2?? For a clean blend?? I've always been curious.

And I think I misunderstood, once again!! haha, what the thread was about.

There are a few pedals that I will never play without again. Pretty much my whole preamp section, the DOD FX10 > Rusty Box > DG B7KU. Then I have my couple dirt pedals that are a must, modded Pork Loin and probably either the Blower Box or Rat Tail. If I'm honest with myself, I could totally get away with JUST those. But I do use my entire board I have now. I would miss all that stuff, but I could do it. If I HAD to.

getting a GENZ-BENZ Shuttle-Max
2 channels, 1 tube, 1 FET. w/ separate ex loops No need for a blender, and the next best thing condensing the pedal board from 12+ pedals to 8, by using more pedals that are multi-functioning. :thumbsup:

My pedal puzzle solver is more specific to modulation. I went through plenty of modulation pedals and finally saved enough for the Strymon Mobius.
Now I dont even bother looking at any other modulation pedals as the Mobius is fantastic and solved that particular issue on my pedal board.

Also, the Ditto X2 is exactly what I was looking for in a looper.

Cali 76 - it accurately duplicates the characteristics of the old Urei 1176 peak limiter, which is a studio grade device used on about 45 zillion classic recordings going back decades. It sounds like an actual studio effect as opposed to a consumer grade pedal. Of course, there are uses and applications for pedal compression that take advantage of their inefficiencies but I'm not seeking any of that myself.

In the 6 or 7 years that I've been using pedals this is the most complete i have felt with my board! I haven't made a change to it in over a month :hyper:

would not put it as the savior pedal, if by your post you mean what was missing from what i would consider as my essential pedalboard then i'd say fuzz and i just bought two of those a Basic Audio Zippy and a Fairfield Circuitry Unpleasant Surprise.

I feel rather naked if I'm not running a nice warm optical compressor. It ties everything I have going on together really nicely, and sends a fat warm even sound to my amp and to FOH. If in some sort of nightmarish situation I had to whittle down my pedals one by one, I am fairly sure that my compressor would be the last one standing.

So, I think that is the one piece that "ties it all together", even though every other piece is also critical. Plus, my board is never final, so there is that too. :)
