What was your "missing puzzle piece" pedal to finalize your FX-board?

Really want a an oldschool Roland Jet Phaser and I don't want to pay the asking price for them right now. The new JHS VCR looks nice as well. I really need to get a new pedal board as the MA requirements of some of my pedals aren't getting along with my powered SKB board.

that little box totally changed my idea on bass tone and Eq shaping in general. I have always had a tone goal and i was always just short of it. Enter the cabsim. I could dial in my dream tone in a manner of minutes and then some.

that and my empress compressor, love em to death!

I build my board to the band. Right now, all I need is a tuner and a dirt pedal. Our next gig as a trio is on Saturday, and we're looking to expand to a quartet after that. The guitarist and I are kinda effects junkies. So what I add will be determined by the sound of the 4th person. If we stay a trio, I'll add a harmonizer, modulated delay, and square wave tremolo.

well when I first started and knew nothing about effects the 105q was my only FX I used. it was my wah, eq., boost, and modulation pedal. I was a big Roger waters, frea, Primus, and Geezer Butler copy cat. I still suck it playing about anything. lol now It's a combo. Fealabs Growler. optifet. and the Hilton Volume. These are my tone. really the new effect I want is an ampeg for some distortion.lol

Recently.....a really great fuzz. Muffs. Pickles. They just didn't do it for me.

SmallSound/BigSound Team Awesome! Fuzz Machine is now proudly on my board and never leaving.

And a power supply. Never really bothered with a good one but added a Carl Martin Pro Power a few months ago and it's amazing how quiet pedals can actually be.

Last year I downsized from a larger board with a Leslie 2 speed effect (and more stuff) to my small board with a single chorus pedal, then I ditched the chorus pedal for a board with no modulation effects at all.

That left me with a clean boost and a distortion with a hole in between them. Enter this thing, having never seen or heard one before I took a leap of faith and bought it online. Let's just say my jaw dropped when I plugged it in, the perfect OD for me ... puzzle complete!

Boss LS-2. Without it, I've just got a couple of dirt pedals, a couple of modulation pedals, a couple synths, a filter, and a comp. Using the LS-2, and without moving a single cable, I can:

-Switch instantly between chorus and dirt
-Switch instantly between synth and dirt
-Parallel process chorus and dirt
-Parallel process synth and dirt
-Parallel process two different synths
-Blend any pedal above with a clean signal
-Turn on any combination of the pedals above with a single stomp

And that's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are other possibilities too.

The one problem with my pedal board it the passive mixers/splitters can feed back ... active mixers/splitters would work better.

I have not noticed any inverted phase issues.

I wanted to run a clean signal through this with a cable and no effects but that resulted in feedback. Then I had to add the DOD flanger after the Marshal Guv'nor because when the guvnor was turned off it would feed back. And I had a bass with a cheap preamp that would buzz when the VT bass was turned on.

I arrived at the perfect setup. Whenever I change any pedal out it no longer sounds as good.

I am considering adding a delay/echo/reverb pedal at the end of the whole chain after the signals are recombined.

Hmmmm... Tough question. If I had to nail down the pedals that were hardest to make work, it would be fuzz and filter.

Went through plenty of fuzzes before I found the Pharaoh Supreme. Never need another one again! Got one for guitar, too. I had plenty of dirt that would work plenty fine, but always wanted a few dirt options and this was the last one to fill.

The final puzzle piece for me has been my Proton. Looked for years for the right filter, and just found it a few weeks ago. I didn't NEED a filter, but it's so dang fun.

I REALLY want to try that bad boy. I didnt think much of it when it was first released. I mean, yeah I thought it was really neat. But I didnt seriously look at it. Then it came out and a lot of people I know of got one and they say it's just ridiculous the amount of stuff it can do. Extremely functional and easy to use. I think it would be great with my setup. Hopefully someday I can check one out.

I think you should keep it as it is. It was great that it fixed itself by accident. I'm thinking if you want to add more effects, it should be after they were mixed again, to avoid excessive noise. Cheers!
