It's rude, insulting, and inaccurate. I was born in the 1950's and it was made very clear to us that you did NOT ever call anyone ********, as it was a real insult. Somehow this term has crept back into common language (usually among young people) as a synonym for "acting foolish", "bad idea", or some similar sentiment. But there seems to be no consideration for the impact that this term can have on cognitively challenged or disabled people. Using the word is normally in horrendously bad taste.

Here's a whole category of words I hate: useless corporate speak that is invading every industry. Things like saying "utilize" instead of use. Or crap words like cross departmental, resource allocation and synergy.

Oh, and I hate the word literally because so many people use it incorrectly.

"I literally killed myself last night finishing that proposal."
