I haven't had a chance to play EVERYTHING, but based off what I have played around with (quite a few diff models), I'd get a new Performer Series J bass for practically the same amount I paid for a new Player Series J at full price. Of all the Fender J's I've played, the Performer had my favorite sound. Just a little out of my price range...

Aerodyne Jazz or an American Jazz. I don’t know which colors go with which series, but I’d need passive and black or dark blue.

Any of the Fender Elite series Basses would likely be my first choice, although the Original 70’s jazzes look intriguing!

Since I do have the Aerodyne already, I'm leaning toward a P bass and a Super Bassman head. If I got the Player Series P Bass, which I quite liked when I played it in the store, the two together would be around 1400 after taxes (or maybe less if there's no shipping charge).

Just not sure if it's worth getting a Super Bassman at $900 when I saw an SVT Classic on Craigslist the other day for less than that.

For a bass, this, the Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special. MIM, truss rod at the nut, lightweight factory keys, rounded heel, pro bridge,
already routed for four control pots and 18v, so IF you don't like the OEM electronics, replacing them with any number of aftermarket options would be little more than a simple change out, even an Active/Passive switch. A good P/J with properly matched pickups is the best all-rounder there is. A relative bargain at it's $824 list, would be a conscience-bothers-me steal at $412. This one they got REAL right, and one of the best deals in the entire Fender bass lineup. Way overlooked, GOT to get me one of these.

I'm not inclined to Fender's bass amps, but you're gonna need to be able to gig with your new DAPBS (what a damn mouthful of a model name for an axe, must have hired an ex-Gibson staffer), and the Rumble 800 combo would get you off and running. I always like as much horsepower as I can afford, plus it's got modeling presets, memories, etc., and you won't need cartage or HGH to move it around, travels light. Add another 210 if need be. $400 bucks at your half-price target.

Isn’t everything that’s sold online already priced at 50% msrp?

That being said, I’d find a balance between “resale value” and “ top sellling “ GUITAR. Then just sell that and get that and buy used.

I'm 101% happy with my gear, so I'd probably give their FXA9 6-driver IEM a try. 50% would still mean around €600, not a total bargain.
