Finally watched Top Gun: Maverick last night. I'd heard so many positive things, but wow, it was bad. Was easily a half hour longer than it should have been, and it was clearly only made for super fans of the original (which I am not).
Looking for a new series to binge, so I thought I'd give "Ride" a try. Nancy Travis is a struggling ranch owner with a couple of sons doing the rodeo circuit.
Disappointing. Over-acting, bad acting, and too much snarky dialogue...not for me. Put up with the first 40 minutes and that was enough.

I've been curious about this movie, too, even though, like you, I'm not a fan of the original. I'll give it a watch when it gets to the point where it streams for free; I'm not paying to see it. I really want to see how it got nominated for Best Picture.
Only after the movie did I realize that it's the exact same plot as "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope". And they didn't even try to disguise it. Still, the flight sequences were fun to watch.
Yeah, I didn't pay for it. Streamed it on Paramount+ which I currently have free for a year. I have no idea how it got nominated for Best Picture.
I thought the exact same thing as I was watching. I was even yelling out "use the force" as they tried to bomb that target.
I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.
Watched 'Oblivion' over the weekend. I admit I like most of Tom Cruise's movies, and this one was no exception.
The plot was confusing at times, but it was still a decent movie, although it did seem a little long.
I liked the scenery of the abandoned and desolate Earth, and learned much of it was filmed in Iceland.

On the docket now is "Shrinking" (AppleTV) with Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. It's boring me to death, but my wife likes it, so here we go. I don't like Ford as the depressing old man. It makes me feel old too.

A machine and tool safety film. I was looking for one they showed us back in middle school shop class, but this one is even better.

A question to the hive mind: which TV show starts from the song "Tempted" by Squeeze? I've been thinking it was The Americans, but no, The Americans S01E01 begins with "Harden My Heart" by Quarterflash (or was it "Tusk" by Fletwood Mac?). Any ideas?
