Whatcha watching?

I can watch this a hundred times and it still freaks me out every time. Still dig it though.
I think it was middle school the first time I saw it. Interestingly, it came up in conversation the other day. Some friends of ours younger than us with middle school aged children were practically shocked when I told them we read this book in school.

"12 Years a Slave"

This one felt more visceral than other movies I've seen about slavery. It's about a black man in America's slavery era who was not merely free, but he was considered a peer by Northern white society. He was cultured, well-educated, intelligent, talented, and thriving financially, with a beautiful family and a beautiful home. Then he was in chains in a small, dungeon-like space.

This is an unflinchingly brutal movie.

We actually read the book and watched a heavily edited version of "A Clockwork Orange" in English class when I was a junior in high school. And this is in Oklahoma. The cool thing was that the book had definitions of the slang the gang used.
Watched this one yesterday. Had been in my queue for awhile. Pretty good with some tense moments, but that ending...wow.
"The Mist" is one of my favorite Stephen King stories, so I hated the ending of that movie. So bad.

This movie has a special version in black and white. Looks way better than the coloured version. The creatures blend better with the real footage. I loved that ending :)

Yesterday we watched Bomb x City. That movie was a gut punch after gut punch after gut punch. And that ending. Just made me lose faith in humanity. Good movie, sad as hell tho.

Is that the one about the punk rockers in TX? I’ll have to add that to my watch list. Definitely sounds like my kind of movie.
