Every few months I pay for a month of HBO to watch new stuff and end up watching The Sopranos and The Wire for the 47th time.

I watched the first few episodes of Peacemaker. It's hilarious. He has a pet eagle, named Eagly, and the eagle hugs him at one point. Laughed my ass off. Highly recommend.

Pretty much all of which I'm completely disinterested in (my Sister keeps telling me I should get over myself, and watch "The Boys" on Prime. I'll get round to it at some point).

The few that I've really enjoyed are :

Peacemaker

She-Hulk : attorney at law

I'm a Virgo (the one that I probably loved the most out of the lot)

She-Hulk is criminally underrated and was a victim of gender/culture war B.S. I really enjoyed it. I still haven't watched I'm a Virgo, but my friends love it.

Okay so my fave streaming service is Prime because there is some renegade goblin on the back-end loading it up with unseemly trash from the '70s, '80s and '90s. Last night it was Stephen King telemovie Sometimes They Come Back. Though I don't think one really has to qualify a Stephen King adaption as a telemovie. Surely that is heavily implied by history at this point and Stephen hated The Shining, which was an actual Movie. Stephen accepts nothing less than comical badness, as do I.

Also this entire thing is on YouTube for free so I'm a sucker.

I remember seeing that at the time, but all I can ever remember about it is the title, and that it wasn't The Langoliers (which is almost certainly for the best).

I wasn't at all a fan of the 90's TV movie of The Stand (loved the book), and I still haven't had an opportunity to see the new version (from a couple of years ago).

Yeah, there's something going on at Prime - I think they have some kind of deal with various independent labels, like Arrow (who have their own subscription channel), because there are frequently movies that those labels have the rights too, and Prime is showing the newly remastered / restored version that the independent labels has just commissioned, and released on 4K UHD Blu-ray.

But talking of absolute junk from the 80's, I recently watched "Monster In The Closet" and was pretty shocked when I realised the precocious little professor kid was baby Paul Walker (of Fast and Furious fame), and the little girl was Fergie (of Black Eyed Peas). I guess if you start at the bottom, the only way is up.

THE LANGOLIERS. On the airplane? I'm having a real moment. I remember The Stand freaking me out so much when I was a kid (that opening scene with Gary Sinise is just wild), but watching it again as an alleged adult... that is 1,000 hours that are now gone and they have gone nowhere fun.

Prime just randomly hit me (I have it perpetually on in the background, I'm that rad) with A Dark Place and so far the emotional recovery has been rough. You just never know with this guy. Will Mr. Prime be goofy today? Churlish? Reprehensible? Existentially devastating?

Actually, mentioning A Dark Place, you just reminded me of something :

Back in 2004 Stephen King unleashed Kingdom Hospital on TV audiences.

At the same time, and by complete coincidence, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace was also first broadcast - centred around an almost identical haunted hospital scenarios, and heavily parodying a Horror writer completely lacking in self awareness.

Just side stepping the Christmas movies for now and watching an old favorite before bedtime last night. The night scenes made the spider much more realistic.

On a cowboy movie "kick" right now and I watched part of Jubal (1956) with Glenn Ford, Ernest Borgnine, Rod Steiger, Charles Bronson, and others. Good movie! I usually watch movies at night right before "lights out" and many times, I break movies up over 2 nights.

(I prefer B&W movies but will watch both.)

Season 2 of "What If?" on Disney plus.
It's not as good as the first season, but it's still the best thing Marvel has ever done This and Spiderverse. All their stuff should be cartoons. What's the point of live action anyway for stories like these? They put actors in spandex suits covered with ping pong balls and CGI the whole thing together. It might as well be fully animated. In the past they had actors and practical effects, and then actors with bad, primitive computer animation, and now actors with modern CGI and none of it suspends disbelief the way a cartoon does so easily.

The Christmas episode of season 2 was hilarious. I watched that one twice.

I always felt Coppola made better B-movies, than A-movies :

For example, he made The Conversation as the B-movie to The Godfather part 2, and as great as Godfather 2 is, I think The Conversation is way better, and infinitely more watchable.

Similarly, Rumble Fish was the B-movie to The Outsiders.

I just instantly loved everything about Rumble Fish, and I just could not connect, or identify at all with The Outsiders (I was probably too young as a kid, to pick up the heightened reality of teenage angst, and the whole thing felt like a 50's throwback pastiche).

Anyway, Amazon occasionally throw me a voucher to purchase a movie on Prime Video, and my most recent purchases were Michael Mann's stylish, but disastrous adaptation of "The Keep", and Coppola's remastered, re-edited version of "The Outsiders : The Complete Novel" which I'm really looking forward to watching soon, as I've been meaning to reappraise the movie for quite a while - and I've never seen the expanded version before.
