Whatcha watching?

This movie was okay. It held back on the violence too much. The whole point of the movie is there are ferocious unicorns. They only impale people a couple of times and you can barely tell what's happening. I hate septum piercings.

I'm watching the Jason Statham film A Working Man. He plays a Jason Statham type character, saying and doing things that Jason Statham does. He used to be in the special forces, but has retired to a life of mundanity, as Jason Statham tends to do. But a conflict arises in which Jason Statham must resort to his old ways. I suspect he'll defeat the antagonists and the law enforcement officers who are after him will let him go due to his righteous cause. As far as Jason Statham films go, this is one of them.

"The Americas" narrated by Tom Hanks. Stunning in breadth and scope, with a fantastic variety of camera placement and angles.

Quickly perusing the reviews, most of the viewer criticism is directed towards the narration basically anthropomorphizing the animals, and the music being too overbearing. But the show is being aired on NBC, not PBS or Nat Geo, so I don't mind the fact that it's designed to be more accessible to the average viewer. I'm thoroughly enjoying the series.

Trying to run through AppleTV stuff and "Black Bird" is pretty good 2eps in. If you ignore some of the ways they portray the legal system and jail.

The main character doesn't seem to have had an attorney but took his ex-cop father's word and then was mad at the prosecutor for lying to him, and while judge's do have mandatory minimums in the federal system and enhancements and some room for digression, if you're negotiating a guilty plea you eventually sign it.

The secondary character got a lawyer over halfway through ep2. I'm not sure how any of his confession would be admissible. No miranda for a cuffed dude who is verbalized that they do not want to speak with detectives.

6ep series. Great so far. Had some trouble getting into Silo. Will revisit after.
