Whatcha watching?

I just popped into this thread and started reading from a few pages back, and.... wow, you folks really don't care for Wes Anderson movies.

His films have had several clearly defined stylistic elements for years now, so I wonder why those who don't like his other recent movies would go see more of them. My wife and I enjoyed "The Phoenician Scheme" very much, just as we did "Asteroid City," "The French Dispatch," "Moonrise Kingdom," and especially "The Grand Budapest Hotel." My stepson and his wife feel the same way about those films. Ah well, different strokes....

I guess I approach things differently than some of you: If I strongly dislike a particular entree, painting, author, restaurant, concert venue, or what-have-you..... I don't go back to experience more of the same.

Just 2 days ago, my wife and I went to see "The Life Of Chuck," and while I would not call it great or a masterpiece, we both liked it. It's an adaptation of a Stephen King novella, but not a horror story or a frightfest. There is an element of something that might fall into the category of "paranormal," but mostly it is a film with some heartwarming and through-provoking ideas; one that has more in common with other non-supernatural Stephen King stories made into movies, like "The Shawshank Redemption," or "Stand By Me." I would advise all members of the Wes Anderson NON-Fan Club to skip it.

I love the Wes Anderson movies. I just know not to comment on them here as a lot of people with very fixed opinions (and the same thing came up with the previous Wes Anderson film). Of course, not everyone needs to like the same things. I do appreciate that Anderson has a singular style (almost more theater than film based). I doubt he much cares that it doesn't connect with every viewer.

This whole thread is interesting to me as I work in film/TV. It's a bit like going on a bass fishing forum and reading a thread on bass playing.

The latest season of Resident Alien. Always good for laughs.
Just watched the first episode the other day as I will always love Tudyk cuz "Firefly." Very silly. Similar vibe with "iZombie" if that makes sense.

"Beef" was fantastic. Kinda funny and rather messed up. Great cast. Highly recommended.

On my continued tour de Netflix: "Kaos." So far so good. It definitely has the Netflix style of great production and an unlimited music budget. The music from "Beef" is basically a best of the 90's. Also, they made another season of "The Umberella Academy." I lasted under 10min but I also hate watched my way through s03.

Sw this excellent film this afternoon.

I read "If It Bleeds" just last year, which contains the "The Life of Chuck" novella. It was confusing at first, but I figured it out about 1/3 of the way through. My wife and I are big Stephen King fans, so we will definitely see that one.

We started re-watching "Elementary" since we never saw all of the episodes. That show is so great.
