Whatcha watching?

!Loved the books as a youth. However, only first episode is available for free unless sub'd to Apple TV. My hopes were dashed on the cold, hard rocks.
I go round the streaming services one at a time. Watch what appeals and on to the next one. Don't see all the latest releases fresh out the box. But it keeps the price down. And I still get to see pretty much everything I want to sooner or later.

"2024 Silverback Breaking Invitational" on ESPN Ocho.

Whatever one may think of breakdancing, the best dancers are impressively athletic. It's a real shame, and it even angers me a bit, that the Australian breakdancer "B-Girl Raygun" was allowed to make a mockery of breaking in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Always amazes me that people see the bodies going round but don't see the feet and hands all in time to the music.

When I watch Alien Earth I keep thinking in the future is Dude and Bro still so much in the lexicon?
The soundtrack is another matter, some good songs but don't fit the context.
I figure the alternative would have to be some made up slang that would have to be a distraction. So I see that stuff as a translation for present day audiences . But like La Haine was translated into hip hop for Anglophones.

The Boondock Saints.
I enjoy this movie every time I watch it, which I've now lost track of. Good stuff.

First saw it when my dad rented it on VHS. Then I bought it on DVD in HS. Now I own it digitally. One of the better pieces of work out there. For sure top 10.

Silo: Took me 3-4 times but I finally got into it. Kept reminding me of Dark and I just couldn't do that one. Like being on a 0.000001mph treadmill.

Just finished Snowfall. John Singleton is wont to use big bookmark stereotypes for characters in pursuit of a point. Nice to see them fleshed out. Suspect Walter Mosely might have had a hand in that. Or the long format just demanded it

Currently watching Washington Black. Enjoyed the book. And took a moment to get over the series not being similarly linear. But setting into it nicely now. Hope season 2 is Half Blood Blues. That was a good book.

This weekend we finally started "Alien: Earth". We're really enjoying it.

Also watched "The Amateur" with Remi Malik and Laurence Fishburne. It's a different twist on the 'unexpected agent' trope; it's pretty good with some slow spots.
I enjoyed The Amateur. I feel like Malik hasn't done much since the Queen biopic, so it's good to see him working.
