Whatcha watching?

That's precisely what I'm talking about!

I know I'm old, but it used to be that you would just see the big studio logo (e.g., 20th Century Fox, Universal, Columbia Pictures) before the movie started, not the logos of a bunch of different production companies.

Movies cost so much to make these days, maybe it's to distribute the capital burden and the risk.

This movie is great. It’s the best performances I’ve seen from each actor involved, except maybe Jude Law who was amazing in Tom Ripley, though he was great in this. Excellent, well shot, well scripted and acted. Great movie. Easily one of the best movies of the last several years. I know nothing of the source material….the real version of the story being told. But I want to know. I’ll be looking it up and reading whatever material is available about it. It’s a disturbing, real, portrayal of what happens when survival is on the line, as far as I can tell so far. . Survival, reputation, and ego. Everyone should see this.

Expect those studios used to do everything in house. Now there's more independent production companies probably got people under contract. And the price for using them is some logo time

I guess.

Oh my garsh am I in trouble now. Roku recently added a 24x7 NYPD Blue channel. It started with season one and will go in order until the end, and then start all over again and again and again. I really dig this show and would be absolutely nothing for me to sit there and watch 7-8 episodes in a row.
Season one was great to watch again. It all started coming back to me as each episode went on.

Took me a few tries, but I finally got into Silo and very much so enjoy it. The episode "The Dive" was beyond triggering lol... In reality she gets severe barotrauma from the mask and panics and loses vision and dies. Or she can't plug in the electrical cable due to nitrogen narcosis. And probably dies due to that as well. I don't actually know that she would have decompression sickness with her bottom time. Off hand for the time she was under you're not requiring a ton of decompression because you're fighting severe nitrogen narcosis, or so I've heard. The rest was good. Looking forward to s03.

EDIT: Oh and eardrum rupture likely before the barotrauma. If you literally just heard a description of the concept of swimming you are not gonna clear your sinuses. Could be a natural though I guess... Ok nerd rant over..

That makes sense.

It would be interesting to know exactly what these different companies do on the same movie. If you're building a house, it's obvious that you need the cement layer, plumber, electrician, roofer, carpenter, etc., to do specific things.

Read the synopsis, sounds like adult Lord of the Flies.

Post production and CGI come to mind. It's possible that some of them are production houses in their own right that are given a part to play for the skills of one of their employees. A highly respected set designer or sound FX engineer, for instance.
