Whatcha watching?

I wonder why seemingly every movie nowadays needs a parent company and three different production companies to get made. I see this shown before the titles of just about new every movie I watch.

Movies cost so much to make these days, maybe it's to distribute the capital burden and the risk.

gln1955 is correct. It's primarily about cobbling together the financing. Making movies is often accurately compared to financing a skyscraper; very complex with multiple investors, presales, 'soft' monies, etc, etc.

Dept Q was great - up until the last episode. Great characters, acting, writing, etc - but the last episode was too much suspension of disbelief for me, which left a soured impression, personally. Spoilers:
1. simply walking off getting shot by a shotgun from 10 feet away - even if "just buckshot"... Of course, the shotgun's effects were entirely different when reversed.
2. Lyle being able to pass himself off convincingly to a prosecutor as a journalist doesn't fly with the rest of his backstory.

This movie is confused. Not confusing, it's confused. The dialogue is terrible. The tone is all over the place. It's okay. At least it's relatively short.

Watched that a little bit ago now, but yeah. Have you seen the original series? It's excellent.

Solid movie. One thing leads to another without any shenanigans. Character development isn’t important to the narrative but enough of it happens through the story telling to make you care about what’s happening. It shows more exposition than it tells. Perfect length. Good movie. Very good

Saturday we watched "Thunderbolts". Our son and I saw in the theater, but since it's now available on Disney+, my wife was able to see it. It was just as good as the first time. The twist was somewhat expected, but not quite what we thought. There's enough levity to keep it light, because otherwise I think this movie would have been very dark.

Just finished the Devo doc. Brilliant. I do wish they’d gone a little into how they learned to play their instruments and the music writing parts of their history.

I thought that was really good. A bit melancholic with how it ended but glad to have watched it. Like Elephant Graveyard though I've just listened to it podcast style, still via YouTube, rather that watched.
