Started watching Pluribus. Cool!

Was it me, or did I see Behringer rack gear in the airplane?? The prop people should have used some better gear!

We watched the new "The Naked Gun" over the weekend. Overall it was OK. There were a few LOL moments, but for the most part, it was average. The pacing of the gags was too slow, I think. If you watch the OG "Naked Gun" and "Airplane", you'll understand what I mean.

The new Running Man is weird. It's not very good. It held back on the violence. I thought it was PG13 till I read it was R.

I hate this guy:

Can you tell how badass he thinks he looks? He has that look on his face for the entire thing.

If they had cast anyone else but him it would've been much better. Tommy Wiseau as Ben Richards would've been an improvement. This guy stinks.

Saturday we finally watched "Sinners". It was an interesting new take on the vampire trope, and was very good, although a bit slow in spots. Hearing Hailee Steinfeld curse was a bit jarring. :D

Yesterday we as a family went to see "Predator: Badlands". It's a nice fresh take on the Predator universe, and we really enjoyed it. It could have cut down a couple of scenes, though. Our son pointed out that the Weyland-Yutani Corp is the same company the crew of the Nostromo worked for in "Alien". Crazy.

Dang, that is so unfortunate. This is one of my favorite short stories along w/ The Long Walk from King. I had hopes they would make a kickass movie about a kickass story, guess not. Still haven't seen The Long Walk but I am re-reading it first, heard good things.

It's entirely possible this movie is truer to the source material than Arnold's version. I've never read it. My dislike of the actor really swayed my opinion. The movie might be good. I don't think it is, but others might enjoy it. I just can't stand the actor.

Jarring, sure. It also elicited other feelings in me. My god, she's amazing. Tremendous actress, I think, and quite possibly the most attractive human being that's ever existed. I love that movie.

Got it. I'll probably still give it a try but I'll re-read it first. Yah, Arnold basically made a cartoon version of the story, no where close honestly.

I've begun using Kanopy (available for free through my library, with a limit that I'm unlikely to use) more since not-renewing about all streaming subscriptions, and finally watched Tokyo Story for the first time.

It's a simple premise, with a lot of static shots, slow pace, and a lot of slow dialogue (so as someone early in learning Japanese, I was able to grasp more than I expected). It's about an elderly couple who visit their busy children in Tokyo. It is quite moving, though, maybe as everyone has experience dealing with aging, family expectations, and disappointments, especially among different generations.

Based on the trailers, the new "Running Man" doesn't seem to have the same grittiness and darkness as the original. It looks like they're trying to make it into a straight-up action flick, which is disappointing.

Watched The Surfer via Hulu, I'm still trying to digest it. Probably perfectly cast with Nic Cage, he does not fail to deliver the Nic Cage performance. I may watch this one again with a more settled understanding of what "may" be transpiring. It's definitely a movie left open to many interpretations, won't say much more about that:

If you can find Pig see it. Cage does crazy like no one’s business, and I think we all know why that is...

Pig was excellent and oddly enough, he's barely crazy in it. He plays a filthy recluse living in the woods with a pig, but plays it with heart and sadness and more or less level headed. It was different from when he's playing a normal guy but acts crazy like Nicholas Cage.
