Whatcha watching?

Just started rewatching Carnivale. Forgot how good this show was. Pity it got canceled.
Right at the point where everything started happening, as I recall. I can barely remember the show but if I'm remembering right, two seasons of build up led to a point where things were about to get ******* nuts and then it got canceled. I think I'll give it a rewatch.

Been looking for something different lately, and ended up binge-watching High Potential. Kind of corny, but just serious enough to keep me interested. (Her miniskirts also help keep me interested, too.)

Reminds me of an adult-sized Encyclopedia Brown series, for those of you old enough to remember those books, as she sees clues where no ordinary detective would. Not going to win any awards, but certainly watchable. Decent supporting cast, and entertaining plot lines.

I used to love Encyclopedia Brown as a kid. Does she charge a quarter plus expenses? (Wasn't that the going rate?) Color me intrigued.

Just finished Falling Skies on Netflix, and I gotta say, it's a little dispiriting to invest that much time in a mostly cool series, only to have it go completely off the rails for the final episodes. With two or three episodes to go, I wondered how they could wrap it up so quickly, and indeed it was not wrapped up in a satisfying way.

For All Mankind continues to be almost good on AppleTV, meh.

Dark Winds was cool, sparked my interests in other indigenous projects. I checked out Rez Dogs the 2021 film with mixed reviews. The film is episodic and comes together only at the end, like they kinda figured out the medium in the end. It is on the other hand so sincere and honest that I think the viewer forgives a lot, and I mean a lot!

Otherwise I’m all about the Sumerians and their instant culture that arose out of nowhere and seemed to know everything. The Annunaki are coming back in 2029 and I’m running up my credit cards in advance, lol.

If you like zombie flicks, you might check out Blood Quantum for first nations' take on the genre. I love Dark Winds, but the latest season hasn't kept my attention.

Mortal Kombat 2 was fun. The dialogue and story aren't great but it's a video game movie. Karl Urban's American accent was not good but he got the job done.

I was pleasantly surprised by the first one (I only watched it because the first first one - 1995 - was such a po-faced mess, compared to the admittedly not great Street Fighter - 1994 - which is also rebooted this year).

This is great! I’m watching a great B rated sci fi film with Peter Graves. It’s so hokey its cool. :roflmao:

Dark Winds success has propelled it’s principals to high levels of attention, deserved in many ways including some damn good stories/plots. I’m done with zombies, thanks.
