Whatcha watching?

We used to break picnic chairs over each other’s heads when we were kids. One of us tied fishing weights onto monofilament line and swung it like a bolo until he broke his brother’s teeth. We jumped off roofs. We were serious. The back yard was the Colosseum. Slip’ Slides, eventually when Wrist Rockets came out the same summer as pump BB guns, we ratcheted it up until a kid lost an eye…I wish i were making this up.
We lived across the street from a really large park in our neighborhood when I was in elementary school.

Every Saturday I drug at least one kid to my house to call their parents about their broken arm/leg/teeth/etc.

Good times.....

We had a MASSIVE hill that leveled out over a bridge atop a creek. You could easily hit 60 mph on a bike. The cool thing to do was take your hands off the handlebars, and see how fast you could go. First day after school let out for summer in 5th grade, a kid was doing just that, hit an expansion joint, landed chest down, no shirt. Lost both nipples. We didn’t see him again until after Christmas break next year. He also lost the bottom of his chin, he flipped and lost about 1/3 of the skin on his back, spent the entire summer in the burn ward, and didn’t finish 6th grade.

I'll see it in theaters this Saturday. Looking forward to it!

I expect it to be in the very same vein as Evil Dead 2013 and Rise, both of which dropped all pretenses of being a comedy that the original trilogy still had. I'm totally on board with that, though - no Bruce, no comedy.
Saw it today. Definitely some brutal kills and a high level of gore, but I felt like the story was thin and the characters a bit underdeveloped. The 2013 remake is still my favorite of the newer releases.

Aw man, RIP Sam Neill.

Love this:

I was watching "For All Mankind" but it got really stupid in the 5th season, so I had to turn it off. It took a turn in the 3rd season, but I kept on watching. The MOCC takeover was the straw the broke...etc, etc.. Can anyone give a recommendation to finish watching?

The final ending scene is intriguing. It's a slog to get there though.

I cant stop watching Grandpa Cartwheel getting yeeted by that buffalo in Yellowstone. It’s a classic. Every once in a while, i hear the wife giggling and shes got her phone out. It works on so many levels. All it needs is Benny Hill music.

Put on Psycho Beach Party (2000) during my woodshed time today. Fun, unique, cheesy goodness. Hadn't seen it in a long time, so forgot about the double-twist ending. Enjoyed seeing this one again.

Changed strings during the movie. First time using DR Fat Beams (FB5-130), likin' them so far. A bit stiffer than I thought for round-core strings. I think the compression-wound outer wrap might contribute to that. Cool with me, as I like strings that fight back a bit.

Tomorrow, Woodshed Cinema presents The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz (2000). Anglo-German black 'n' white surreal comedy drama. Here's the premise: "On the last day of creation, a stranger arrives in London. No one knows who he is or where he has come from but by the time he leaves, the entire universe will have been erased." Sounds worth trying out to me LOL

Oh yeah, definitely. I thought Rise was a step back already, and Burn continues that trend, sadly. It's very effective horror cinema, but I think it did nothing for the franchise in general. Some nice callbacks though. It didn't help that I actively disliked most if not all characters, that never bodes well for a movie. (side note: the family drama hit a bit too close to home for me personally, so that aspect alone was very uncomfortable)

Yep, I touched on the on-the-nose nature of the plot earlier in the thread, and how unsympathetic the characters were. It's a generational abuse story wrapped in an Evil Dead premise and it just does not work. I liked Rise, though. This one? Not so much.
