What's a good fretless for $250 or under?

I have a Yamaha P-bass copy that plays great. Used for $150.

J-bass = Perk
P/J bass = Perk
Sadowsky = + infinity regardless what kind of pickups it has or what style it is.
Bass+ hambucker(s) = Perk
Single Jazz pick up bass = Perk

If your very lucky, you might find a nice used one in that price area. But youd be better off saving up more for better bass.

I know. A used Sadowsky Vintage 5 string PJ costs $2380.

I will listen for certain Fenders(classic vibe, jazz, jaguar, PJ, fretless, or 5 string), but I don't usually like Fender products. No offense to Asians, but I would rather have a guitar that says " PROUDLY MADE IN THE U.S.A" on a sticker that has the American flag in the back ground or or one made in Europe or Japan. An yes, I do know that Japan is part of Asia.

Aside from a few used Indonesian Squiers, a low-end Korean Yamaha, or Chinese SX...you ain't gonna find a decent bass for under $250.

I've already talked to a guy who is selling his SX and I might buy it. I know Ibanez has guitars under $250 and I know that they're Korean, but they sound like they're from the US.

I found an '89 Peavey Foundation fretless made and handcrafted in the US and I snagged it for $180! Keep an eye out for one of those, though they are somewhat of a cult favourite here, so youll see them going for more than that.

I got a used VM FL Jazz for $170 from gc... I swapped the pups bridge and tuner, now it's my main bass... FWIW

There is nothing wrong with basses not made in the USA. There are plenty of good options for $250. I have quite a few USA vintage basses and my current fav is my lowly Squire VM Precision
