What's all the hate for Pete Wentz?

Fall Out Boy is the kind of band that doesn't really need a bassist, and he's just there to pick root notes. You're just a troll.
Mikey Way's lines on Danger Days is the reason I picked up bass guitar!I've never got why people say Ringo is a bad drummer, I think his drumming is great. Listening to it almost makes me want to play the drums, but I lack the coordination. The isolated bass and drums for Hello Goodbye is on YouTube. It's great. I disagree that Wentz is a good bassist. Patrick Stump is a better bassist. His bass parts suck, mind-numbingly boring. Inaudible when live, and mixed down on albums, if he was so great, I think they'd have us hear the bass. Just because it's "pop-punk" doesn't mean it can't have a good bass part.

I'm a fan of both bands, and didn't really notice the bass in MCR stuff until Danger Days. He really stepped it up there. Love that disco-ish line on Planetary (Go). I don't get the criticism of Mikey Way, he's no John Entwistle, but he stayed out of TMZ and being everywhere on the Internet unlike Pete Wentz.
Both have moderately cool-looking basses as well. I'd buy the Mikey Way Mustang if I ever saw one in a shop at a good price.
When you give everyone trophies just for participation, you get Pete Wentz. Then the OP is trying to make it like Pete's trophy was actually earned.

No need to come here and try to get affirmation by slandering another bassist that's in another league (and then attributing that slander to "I've heard"). FOB are hugely successful. FOB would do just fine without Wentz "playing" bass. Keep him as a lyricist though. Alot of his posts certainly have a troll-like characteristic to them. But based on what I've seen in the past, thankfully it usually doesn't take very long until the trolls get banned.

somebody who slaps chord signatures, pentatonic minor scales, UPSIDE DOWN, only plays a Fender Precision bass, uses an 8x10, has utter despise for pick players people who also play guitar, has a cool haircut, etc.
I don't hate Pete Wentz, but I'll hate on fallout boy. Their two most recent songs that I know about steal hooks from Suzanne Vega (centuries) and the munsters (Uma Thurman).

That said, I think it's really lame that their last two hits simply nick riffs from other songs. "Maybe" it was clever the first time (although I hated Centuries), but to follow up with another? C'mon guys.
I didn't know they had done that with Uma Thurman. I really enjoyed the Mötley Crüe sample on American Beauty/American Psycho though.
FOB's first two records definitely set the bar with how high a modern pop punk band can really go. Take This To Your Grave is also one of the last true pop-punk/emo records before it became the cool thing to be.
So go on youtube and have a listen. He's a tremendous talent. You will enjoy
