What's Coming & Going Thread, Part "FORE!!" (IV)

Does it have the CV input for manual??
No expression on the Hartman or Frost Bite, but the 770 has an expression pedal input for the speed, and the Barracuda has one to control the sweep I do believe. Technically it is not called a sweep in flangerland, is it? I'm bad at names, but good at descriptions.
Stop it. I was actually staring at the Hartman for 10 minutes yesterday before finally telling myself I didn't need it.
Just remember, you prefer phasers, no need to go on this mad quest that I have set before myself. But as much as I love my Barracuda, I just A/B'd it along with the Hartman, and... wow. The Hartman is really something special. They are different enough where a direct comparison may not entirely be appropriate, but I think I have a new favourite. For now.
Ah bummer, Im sure it sounds good, but no CV no care.. :smug:
Don't you have a TZF now? :D

By the way, as fun as the Frost Bite was, it did either subtle or extreme, and a great many variations on those themes, but there was no middle ground. The subtle stuff killed the treble and didn't have any nuts, and the crazy stuff sucked out the low end, while at the same time making my speakers bounce around oddly like so much silicon before them.

Yep, I have the TZF, and headroom issues.. I've been spending some time with it, and once Im a little more comfortable with the pedal Im going to email dave fox and see what he has to say about it- if there are trimpots I can fiddle with, or if he has any other ideas for me.

It sounds great and is much higher fidelity than the Polychorus which I also love... but after spending so much on it, the headroom thing has put me off a bit (i was expecting the world, so to speak). Part me wants to say f'it and try to trade up (+$) to a Lovetone ? flanger or something.. I inquired about the 'cuda a few months ago and would have bought the damn thing either way, as Ive only had one pedal that didn't work with the MP201 so far, but the builder couldn't be bothered with my question, so that one is scratched off the list.

Coming:
EHX Enigma
EHX Cathedral Reverb

Going:
Money and possibly my Q-tron+ if the Enigma wins the shootout.

Gassing:
Moog MF-101
Moog MP-201
Deep Impact or Korg G5

If I were you, I'd scratch the G5 off the list and look into a Freqbox if you don't go the DI route, especially if you get the 101 and/or 201. The G5's most/only usable tone, IMO, was the sawtooth.. with the Freqbox you get the saw and more, and combined with the 101 you'll have a good chunk of the G5's tones but sounding way better- it doesn't track as well, but is very usable and tracks quite well if you stick a buffered pedal between it and your bass or octave pedal. I traded my G5 for a Freqbox and never looked back (though I hated the damn thing anyway)

Currently I've got an FL-9 which I dig but the grass is always greener. Did you ever have the Maxon?

Pretty much my take on it too. FWIW, a guitar player bought (well traded for) mine too and he really digs it so ob la di brah. (Coincidentally his name is Desmond).

Back on topic:

Going: Nothing, for now. But a lot of stompboxes are on notice

Coming: A pedal with butterflies on it. I had my choice of designs and I picked one with butterflies. I'm currently scratching myself inappropriately and eating raw meat to try and get my masculinity back at an appropriate level.

No, I skipped that one because I loathe the footswitches on the Maxon pedals. When I had an AF-9 I would constantly misfoot it and it drove me nuts. Granted, it was on the upper row of my board, and I am definitely a clutz, but still.

hahaha

Going: somebody buy my 770 Flanger and OctaBass so that I may sit and brood upon my pile of gold as king under the mountain.

STILL Coming: Wounded Paw Battering Ram. How long is the average wait for one of these babies? Its been at least four weeks since I placed the order..the site said he was shooting for three week turn arounds :rollno:

Here: HAO Rust Ride. This thing is great. I love the way it responds to your playing dynamics. Its going to be tough deciding whether or not to keep it once the Battering Ram arrives...

Write to Preston if it isn't there in a week.
Also, pedals can get tied up @ the border since it's electronic.

My Battering Ram took about 6 weeks, and yes, it also got "randomly searched" at customs for a week or so.

Hmm...this might be what happened. I just hope it gets here before we go on tour. Oh, Ryan, we are playing a New Jersey date! Come and check us out if you can. Info is on our myspace!

Gone: EBS Microbass II

Incoming: Way Huge Pork Loin
(Was waffling between the Loin, SFT, and what would be my 4th VT-bass... went with the Loin because of the Blend. I'm a long time Sparkle Drive fan, but wanted to try something different. Probably will try the Sparkle Drive Mod once it comes out)

Coming: Sweet pedal board

100_1590.gif

I'm going to share it with one of the guitards in my band. Hopefully it will save space in the trailer.

Going: Korg Pitchblack+, Boss AC-3 and possibly my Gyroscope.

Anybody interested in the above?

Yeah, I've been kinda on and off about getting a G5. I think I'll go for a DI as I can get one from a guy locally. I'm just really interested in anything that'll work at the start of my signal chain.

To be honest, the samples I've heard of the Freqbox haven't really done a lot for me. Can you give me a link to some good samples of it on its own or with the other pedals you mentioned.

Thanks for the advice.
