Well, if you're re-buying pedals, those are pretty good ones to be repeating.

I thought the mammoth and blueberry were an amazing combo. I'm pretty sure that I sold everything when I got them together on a pedalboard because it was perfect and I didn't need to look for dirt pedals anymore.

Gone: Prototype Tentacle Love Super Fuzz. I never thought I'd sell it, but its been laying around for some time now, and my practice/headphone board is taking a direction that doesn't need something as crazy as the TLSF :)

In the process of ordering: A Pedalhead size NYC pedalboard. The funds from the TLSF should just about totally cover the purchase :D

I actually liked the EXH Memory Toy quite a bit (still have it in my house, but it is sold). I know others have mentioned the modulation feature being totally whacked and unusable (and some YouTube clips confirm that), but I guess mine had the trim pot adjusted correctly since I preferred having the mod on. The modulation is much more subtle on mine, adding just a bit of sparkle and shimmer. To be honest, the main reason why I bought it at first was that the nano size meant I could fit it on to my board at the time. But I really loved it once I had it on there.

The Stereo Memory Man came into play only because I saw one on Craigslist (damn GAS), and the more I researched it, considered it's looping options, tap tempo, preset saving options, etc, the more seriously I considered it. The issue of board space was solved when I decided I could also live without the Small Stone Nano to make room for it.

My main worry was the "digital" aspect of the Stereo Memory Man. I recently had a Line 6 Echo Park and brought that back to the store within 48 hours ... lots of nice options on the Echo Park but definitely prefered the anolog tone on the Memory Toy, and hated the "clinical tone" of the Echo Park.

Now I've only been playing around with the SMM for a couple of hours now ... just in a room with myself, I admit I prefer the tone of the Memory Toy (especially my fave setting with Delay and Blend at 10 or 11 O'clock and Feedback at 12). The anolog pedal just has this deeper ominous church-like tone to it.

With that said, the SMM sounds incredible in it's own right ... and I can get close enough to an analog tone (wayyyyy warmer than the Echo Park IMO), I now have many more options available to me and I think the "cleaner / crisper / tighter" tone of the SSM will be preferable to me in a full band setting. I think my ears are still calibrated for analog (lol), but I'm really enjoying what I'm hearing from the SMM.

A bit of an apples and oranges comparison of course in terms of size , digital vs. analog, and price (!)... but all in all considering the total package, the bells and whistles, and what I want on my board, the Stereo Memory Man is everything I was hoping it would be and more. Everything it does, it does very well! The Memory Toy was also everything I was hoping it to be, and is relatively wallet friendly. The one thing it does, it does very well!

Incoming: Pedaltrain Junior, Electronix Cross Drive, Ernie Ball VP jr.

I should be able to get the M9+Expression pedal on the board and fit 3-4 discrete pedals, two of which will be a Pitchblack and the Crossdrive then either my Flipster of 1/2 Gainer depending on how much room exactly.

I will +1 to what CP said, having the Ehx SMMH and a Memory Boy I can say that for the total package the SMMH has a lot more to offer. The only downfall is its price when you have both the Memory Boy and Memory toy for so cheep.

But for what the memory toy and boy do they do it very well.

Hmm, I have heard from TB'ers about volume issues. Please clarify this issue if you have experienced it. I think some people say there's a volume drop on some settings.

Well I went back to my SMM just to double-check since if I noticed any volume drop before, that would be enough for me to take it back off my board and keep searching ... but I've always loved that all the EHX pedals I have owned were at unity gain without havng to fuss with a volume knob on the pedal or utilize my boost.

My SMM is incredibly conistent in delivering back the delay at the same volume. I even put the BLEND all the way clockwise so it was only the pedal signal coming through ... not one iota of volume drop. With the FILTER knob turned all the way counter-clockwise, taking away higher freqs, the tone doesn't cut through so there may be a percieved volume drop ... but there isn't ... it just obviously won't cut through a mix as well, and just doesn't sound good IMO ... that setting makes more sense for guitar than for an instrument that is already "bassy".

The only other thing that I think could impact where the tone sits in the mix is if the DECAY and BLEND are simultaneously set too high ... too "reverby" with it sounding like the bass is down a long tiled hallway 100 yards away. That's just how those controls work on any delay pedal though, and not a fault of the pedal ... it's just a weird setting.

The Memory Toy was similar in that the volume was dead-on consistent regardless of where the BLEND knob was set.

Oh ... both pedals are / were also in an effects loop so there's no difference whether or not they are in the signal chain even when they are off. No added noise to the chain, no volume drop or tone suck, etc.
