What's On Your Workbench?

Since all the other projects are in various stages of letting finish dry, I decided to sharpen a couple tools. Me and my wet sharpener maybe got just a little carried away...

Yeah. I just got it last week. Yet I've always fumbled with pcbs loose on a table, or held in one of those awkward 3rd-hand things with the alligator clips on the flimsy arms. This is a world of difference! Anyone who is doing pcb work should have one of these.

I'm actually surprised the stewmac branded unit is only $3 more than the Amazon generic. I would have expected the stewmac label to add the usual billion percent markup. It's pretty clearly the exact same unit, just without the brand name label. If I'd been in the middle of a stewmac order when I saw that, I would have happily bought it from them and considered the $3 markup a contribution to support their knowledge sharing and educational material.

It's the $13 shipping that gets you from stewmac

This is my first BYOC kit, it's their "crown jewel" which basically seems to be just about every single famous overdrive or boost pedal crammed into a single box. It's got a bunch of knobs and switches.

I don't even really feel like I need an overdrive pedal since my guitar amp does great noises on it's own, but this just looked like so much fun and a great way to experiment with different circuits. I built a few simpler pedals earlier this month from scratch, this is going to be the fanciest one yet so I figured it made sense to just get a kit.

I built the Flanger, Bass Chorus, and Muff, then got a Rotovibe from Madbean with LED sensors under a cap, that thing kicked my a**, but it works! No kits available, just the PCB, so I had to source all the parts. Nothing cooler than firing these things up and having them work. Mt eyesight sucks, so I use a giant magnifier/light combo I inherited from my Grandfather, who was a doctor. Those IC pins are tiny! I don't really need any more pedals, but I'd like to build a standard vibe just for the hell of it.

Yeah, I bought a number of his VFE PCB's that I have to put together. Once I do, I'll have the Pedalboard of DOOM!!! :woot:
