What's On Your Workbench?

Bart P2 sized 5-string covers ready for detail sanding. This set is made from some excellent quartersawn Wenge I've had in stock for some time

I'll fill the pores with tinted epoxy, and then sand it to a satin finish

I was able to achieve a sharper edge detail than originally expected with this Wenge. even the tearout was minimal, proof that the tooling strategy change works

My pair of 60s Harmony H-22s. The 63 (right) has a broken trussrod and the 67 needs a bridge, nut, electronics work, and some touch up.

Fretboard steamed off, got some damage to the celluloid face dot

Trussrod rebrazed by Steve Soar of ThunderBucker Ranch.

Fretboard reinstalled, neck will need some refinishing but truss rod now works properly.

Waiting on some bridge height adjuster thingies and Brazilian rosewood pen blanks so I can carve the new bridge.

Got the coils laser cut, wound, and charged prior to internal copper foil shielding and then epoxy casting these into their respective SBC-7 sized covers.

I opted for clear epoxy vs. black tinted just in case there was any wicking thru one of the eyes. No way I was going to chance ruining a set of pickups with a big black blotch on the front side. Glad I took that approach, as there was one eye with the slightest bit of weepage that I caught early enough to remove the epoxy before it was fully cured.

My first try at building a part from raw lumber. Put a new fingerboard on my fretless after an epoxy disaster.

There is no finish on it - African Blackwood polished up to 12000 grit. I'm happy with how it came out.

Edit: Rodent, those pup covers are killer!

Dean,

Glad to see this worked out for you!!!! Looks good too!

fluorescent lights + camera phone = bad lighting on these Bart P2 sized wooden covers. several of these covers will be paired with the dual-coil sets above. others will get filled with either single-coil of split-coil goodness

there's still a LOT of work left to do to bring the wooden covers to completion, but it's a good start for a Sunday afternoon
