Of course this likely all goes out the
window when the chassis arrives and the iron has to be floated around to final positions for hum elimination.

Interesting choice of tubes.View attachment 4580080 No bass projects currently, so this prospective build is on the bench.

No, this is an original design with circuits from amps I've made in the last 30yrs. I go to a great deal of expense to acquire these tubes.Interesting choice of tubes.
Is this an existing preamp design or something you cooked up to use tubes you had available?
I have a big inventory of tubes, many of which were given to me, and I’ve sometimes designed around what I had laying about. Sometimes with good results and sometimes…. Not so much. No, this is an original design with circuits from amps I've made in the last 30yrs. I go to a great deal of expense to acquire these tubes.
The tubes used are ones that are optimum for the job,(5879 distortion stage, 12DW7 efx loop), or provide sonics/feel that won't let me stop playing (6SN7's). I've used these tubes in my builds for 18 years or so. I recommend experimenting with circuits around tubes other than the 12AX7. For those of you who build that is. It's dangerous, yadda, yadda.
It looks like you meant it, doesn't it?Not really happy… with the repair.
That’s gorgeous. There aren’t many people who will want it, but somebody out there will want it badly.Wondering what to do with this. It was my fathers and not something I play. It's a circa 1955 National triple neck steel guitar. Great shape for it's age.View attachment 4600536

I also have his 1954 Supro if I want to learn.Learn to play!![]()
Ended up buying my nephew's guitar from him. I found him this 1985 Westone Spectrum LX a couple years ago. And after fixing up a bandmate's 83 Electra Phoenix (same idea, same Matsumoku), I figured I'd ask if he wanted to sell it. HE DID! He's not playing electric anymore.

So I'm restoring it to glory after it being relatively untouched for the past few years. Lots of cleanup, but I figured TB might enjoy a fingerboard before and after shot, using my favorite treatment: food safe mineral oil.

And for what it's worth, most of this guitar is benefiting from being soaked or wiped in mineral oil.

Food Safe Mineral Oil: It's not just for cutting boards anymore.™
My cousin does this too. He mixes and matches different destructive peppers into sauces that could maim someone. I've been meaning to ask him, what the heck is wrong with you people?Innocent baby Carolina Reaper seedlings.
