Nice warm bankie for the neck of this Thunderbird.
Heat setting a neck is by far the least scientific process in all of lutherie, I think. This is the first time I’m trying it with a heating pad. The bass isn’t mine so I decided that gentle and slow would be a good option here. The pad gets the neck good and warm but not super hot so I think it’ll do the job.
I gave it 15 minutes of heat last night, left it clamped up, and I’ll check it tonight when I get home from work.
I expect to need to repeat it a couple more times at least since I’m heating it so conservatively.
