Got this today. It needs some help and some cleaning, but I think it will become the base of my new workbench.

It will be nice to be able to get some foam and have drawers for chisels and planes and rasps,… I think I can get all my good hand tools organized and protected in this.

I just remembered, seeing Crawforde's Snap On chest, of another hoard of unlazy project that's been sitting in it's flight case is a Mini D. Have to replace actuators on some of the keys (CAE Sound) and install some matched resistors I got from Kevin Lightner of Synthfools.

Yep. With brakes. the drawers were full of junk, but some good stuff too. I should be able to put a nice working top on it and be able to wheel it in and out of the garage as needed.
it was heavy, but somehow I got it in the truck and home and into the garage. In the rain.

At my sister’s workshop for a little re-saw party.

I’ve been planning to add a riser block to my old Walker-Turner saw. The initial idea was to go with a 1” block so I could use more common 80” blades with the added benefit of gaining an inch on the fairly short 5.5” throat. Then I started thinking “why stop at 1”? Maybe I can go much taller and get the throat big enough for real re-sawing!”

I discussed this with my sister who reminded me that her 14” Jet saw already has a huge riser kit in it and can open to more than a foot!
Hurray! I brought this old walnut shelf over as a test piece and her saw cut dead straight and clean. She only lives about an hour away so the W-T will get the 1” block and I’ll just save up any re-sawing I need to do for when I visit her. Win!

Decided to whip up a quick neck from scrap, to go with this Peavey Foundation body that I hydro-dipped.

That is crazy cool.

What I like about it:

• The body shape. Similar to a Fender, but somehow much sleeker.
• The hydro-dip accidentally came out looking pretty cool.
• The Super Ferrite pickups (the whole impetus for the acquisition, if I’m honest).
• The balance (headless FTW).

What I don’t like about it:

• The bridge pickup is too close to the bridge.
• The width of the neck taper as it approaches the body. Necessitated by the width of the neck pocket, but it feels huge compared to my usual Rick and Gibson styled basses.

That’s a pretty good accident to have! You make it sound like “Well, I was trying to make it look as bad as possible but I accidentally made it look great.”

I like those Peavey bodies, too. Like a slender Fender (there’s a band name) with tiny hints of early Ken Smith.

I have the opposite string spacing problem you have. I’m used to Leo designs so, when I play my Rics, I wonder why the neck doesn’t taper more. FWIW, it doesn’t take me long to adjust between the two.

I picked up a couple "granadillo" boards to try out. Quick interweb search tells me it can be slightly harder than purple heart so it should make for some nice fretboards, though not very flashy. I think it should polish up nicely.

Anybody used granadillo before?
