Seriously... There's no way I'd want to give them up were I to injure myself severly enough to warrant a serious painkiller. Speed does way more damage and has less clinical relevance in my opinion. (and the psych drugs... either way, they do a LOT of good for some people. Sure there's side effects on others, but there's no such thing as a drug without side effects)

Otherwise, how about whales? Has a whale ever done anything good for you? Sure, nature in all her glory and all that, but really, what purpose do they serve? Would getting rid of them cause the collapse of any ecosystems? Is there anything that you do that would somehow be easier if there was a whale around?
